'The Barriers from Al-Mohaimen are four' (qasida 5:16)

This is the motto of this section, which is for talking about the barriers that cuts off the Moslems' relations with Allah [Al-Mohaimen which is a name of Allah that means the Dominant who controls everything]. We need to know these barriers in order for us to be able to avoid or rectify them in our path to Allah.

This section started with a question from one of our viewers, which he sent to the Discussion page. We then found out that it is a big issue that needs more extensive discussion. We found a book made out of a research conducted by a group of brothers which took them 2 years to complete. This book discusses this subject extensively from the point of view of sayyidi Fakhraddin because it was made with the help of some of his older companions. The book's title is "al-Morshid al-Wagis" which means [the summarized guide].

You can find all special expressions in the Glossary. We need your comments to develop this site for you.

The barriers from Al-Mohaimen

The mission of the prophet Mohammad [PPBUH] is the last and the lasting one till Allah gets the Earth and its inhabitants. So, Allah gave Mohammad [PPBUM] the finest men and women to be his family [Ahl al-Bait] and to serve his mission. That was as an answer to the prophet's prayers as he [PPBUM] asked Allah: (O Allah, You made my life limited and my Satan's life extended. So, who is going to help and guide my nation after me). Allah answered him: [And indeed, We have bestowed upon you seven of Al-Mathani and the Grand Qur'an] (Al-Hijr 15:87). Al-Mathani here means the great Imams of Ahl al-Bait. Allah ordered us to follow these Imams when He said: [and whoever follows other than the believers' way. We shall keep him in the path he has chosen] (an-Nisa' 4:115). The "believers' way" here refers to these Imams'. Not only that all Muslims repeat their acknowledgement of this Divine order during their salat, but they also ask Allah to succeed in doing this saying: [Guide us to the Straight Way. The Way of those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace] (al-Fateha 1:6,7). Those who Allah have bestowed His grace upon are these Imams. So, every Muslim who wishes to follow the guidance to the straight way, should hold on to these Imams, as these Imams are the solid rope of Allah and the most trustworthy inextricable handhold. They are the survival ships for all indeed with Allah's recitation that hearts are reassuredworshipers according to the hadith of an-Nabi [PPBUH]: (Ahl al-Bait - my family - are like the ship of Noah. whoever rides it survives, and whoever leaves it perishs). Also, there is a Hadith that says: (Stick to our love, Ahl al-Bait, because whoever meets Allah while he loves us, He will enter Paradise with our shafaca [intercession]. I swear, by He who holds Mohammad's soul in Whose hands, that one's work will not help him unless he appreciates our rights). So, the Imams of Ahl al-Bait are the means for all worshipers to overcome the Barriers from Al-Mohaimen. It was said about these Barriers:

I suffered four that are throwing at me

from an arc that is strained

Iblis [Satan], al-Dunya [this world], Myself, and the Subjectivity

O Lord only you are capable of saving me

what an evil goods, its good part is also evil

The selves of a human are just one, but it has different characteristics and consequently different names according to its grade. Allah told us about it in different verses of Qur'an. Allah said in the words of sayyidina Yusef's: [And I free not myself (from the blame). Verily, the (human) self is inclined to evil] (Yusuf 12:53), So, this self was called: [Evil Inclined Self]. Allah also said: [I swear by the Day of Resurrection. and I swear by the reproaching self] (Al-Qiyama 75:2). So, this self was called: [Reproaching Self]. Allah also said: [And by the self and its perfection . And He inspired it what is wrong for it and what is right for it] (Ash-Shams 91:7,8). So, this self was called: [Inspired Self]. Allah also said: [And thou, O reassured self] (Fajr 89:27). So this self was called: [Reassured Self]. Allah also said: [Return to thy Lord well pleased with Him] (Fajr 89:28). So this self was called: [Well Pleased Self]. Allah continued: [and well-pleasing unto Him] (Fajr 89:28). So this self was called: [Well Pleasing Self]. Allah also told us: [The nature in which Allah has created mankind. There is no altering the creation of Allah, that is the straight religion, but most of men know not] (Ar-Rum 30:30). This self was called: [Complete Self].

We talked here about seven selves or seven characteristic selves:

[Evil Inclined Self]-[Reproaching Self]-[Inspired Self]-[Reassured Self]-[Well Pleased Self]-[Well Pleasing Self]-[Complete Self].

A self is called according to its multiple characteristics, but in itself it is only one. We mean by this the articulate self which is known as the heart. Allah says: [Verily, therein is indeed a reminder for him who has a heart or gives ear while he is heedful] (Qaf 50:37). What is meant by the heart is not the muscular piece that pumps the blood, but the delicate Godly thing that is not comprehended. The Qur'an pointed this out in more than one verse: [Have they not travelled through the land, and have they hearts wherewith to understand and ears wherewith to hear?] (Al-Hajj 22:46), also: [Verily, it is not the eyes that grow blind, but it is the hearts which are in the breasts that grow blind] (Al-Hajj 22:46). Allah also warned: [and obey not him whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance and who follows his evil inclinations and whose affair has been lost] (Al-Hajj 22:46). This delicate Godly piece got tanned by the inclinations to the lusts and met with the lusting self. This lusting self is the animal soul or the bestial soul. This soul appears in the animals and is extended through every living being. We can not recognize it among creatures except in the humans.

Next issue we will talk about the [Evil Inclined Self] ...
