Great Ancestors' Books

Whereas, we are constantly in need for the non-distorted books of our predecessors, and while irresponsible groups had intentionally or unintentionally printed distorted books and spread them either in the markets or on the internet, there aroused the insisting need to find reliable sources for the books and knowledge of the virtuous predecessors. So, we are nominating to you some sister sites that choose accurately every book they present. This way, you can easily find the books and texts of our predecessors which some people tried to hide and conceal, but Allah will complete His guidance, even dislike biased people.

We will mention some of the books, from these sites, that sheikh Fakhr Eldin quoted from in his books and lessons. More information about these sites are in the library page in our main site.

Al Mawahab Al-Ladonaia [the Mystical Gifts]

The biography of our Prophet Mohammad (PPBUH) is based upon quotation and narration, not upon opinions and theories. The Mystical Gifts was written by Shehab Eldin Abi-Alabbas Ahmed ibn Mohamed whose nickname is Al-Kastlany. He passed away in 923 AH. He was a Fekh master who learned from many great masters (sheikhs), such as Ibn Hager Al-Askalany. He also lived at the same time of Imam Al-Seyouty and quoted from him. He stayed near by the Prophet Mohammad's shrine for a while. One night during that time, he had a dream in which he was directed to Allah, and then once he waked up he was inspired to compose this book. He called it: Al Mawahab Al-Ladonaia Bal-menah Al-mohamadia [The Mystical Gifts within The Mohammad Grants]

He strongly believed in the eminence of prophet Mohamed so that he honored the doctrine of Imam Ibn Hambal in favoring Medina over Maccah. Imam Al-Zarkawy said about this book that "This book reveals glorious and magnificent words of Allah and prophetic expressions as well". The author drew his book from both Al Shifaa [The Remedy] by Al-Kady Aiad and Fath Albary [Enlightening of the Creator] by lbn Hagar Al-Askalany. Many great scholars quoted and explained this book; one of them is Imam Alzarkany.

The researcher and introducer of this book scrutinized the previous manuscripts and editions carefully. He introduced the book without distortion, the fact which is really important to us. The footers as explanations and comments on some events and some Hadeeth are only the researcher's effort and knowledge. We are only interested in the integrity of the original book which is realized in this introduction.

Al-Hekam Al-'Ata'ia [Wisdom of Ibn 'Ata' Allah]

The author:

Tag Aldin Ahmed ibn Mohamed ibn Abd-Alkarim ibn cAta' Allah Al-Sakandary Abu Alfadl who adopted the Maleky doctrine and Shazaly tariqa. His nickname is Ibn cAta' Allah Al-Sakandary. This Al-Sakandary name is because of him being brought up in Alexandria where he got his elementary education. The life of Ibn cAta' Allah is tightly connected to the intellectual movement and history of Sufism in Egypt during the 6th and 7th century of the hegira. He was born in (658 AH-1260 AD) and passed away in (709 AH-1309 AD).

His Masters and Students:

He learnt a lot from many honorable masters such as Imam Abu al-cAbbas sl-Morsy [AAH], who was a student of Imam Abul Hasan ash-Shadhali, as he accompanied him for 12 years. He was also a student for the morphology great scholars Imam Al-Maruny and Imam Al-Abarkouky. The pious scholar Takai Aldin Al-sobky was one of his students.

His Knowledge:

He was a knowledgeable Imam and a respected scholar. He was a unique model among Sufis as he gathered both the Sharia (Islamic laws and their origin) and Hakika (Sufi divine knowledge). He was prominent in Sharia and when he completed his scholarship of Sharia he was totally against Sufis and their doctrine. But once he got the opportunity to meet the divine master Abi Al-Abaas Almorsy, he directly believed in Sufism and followed its course. Not only did he accept their knowledge, but he also was the favorite student to Abi Al-Abaas Almorsy. Afterwards he became one of the most known and prominent Sufis.

The book's contents

It contains maxims taught by great Sufis that focus on Sufism and applying Sharia. When he composed the book, he showed it to his master Abi Al-Abaas Almorsy, who went through it and said 'My son; you collected in this notebook the objectives of the restoration' (he meant 'the restoration of the religion sciences' written by Imam Al-Ghazally). Many cognizant people admired the book because of its delicate and eloquence meanings. This book has been explained and taught all around as it contains the essence of Sufism.

The book stands on four principles which are:

-  Reminding and Preaching science,

-  Honesty of actions and rectification of situations,

-  Realization of situations and ranking, and

-  Divine science and knowledge.

The book ends with gentle intimate discourses. There are nearly 263 pieces of wisdoms mentioned in this book, and it has a lot of elucidations.

[Hearts Showdown] by Imam Al-Gazally

[Truly, We did offer AlAmanah (the Trust) to Heavens, Earth, and the Mountains, but they declined to bear it] Al-Ahzab 33:72, which means they refused to accept it, [and were terrified of it.] same verse. This means that they were afraid of not being able to maintain this Amanah and of betraying the trust of Allah. Al-Amanah means, here in this verse, the Obedience and all the Religious duties that one can be rewarded or punish for.

El-Qortoby said that Al-Amanah includes all the religious activities. Ibn Masoud said "Al-Amanah means the preservation of money like keeping deposits, etc". It is also narrated that Ibn Masoud said "Al-Amanah includes all the religious duties but the most significant of these duties in AlAmanah is money preservation". Abu Aldardaa said "Al-Amanah includes even the bath of Janaba".

Al-Hassan said "Allah offered Al-Amanah to heaven, earth, and mountains but they, and all what they have within, severely shacked. Allah told them if you do well, you will be rewarded but if you do badly, you will be punished so they said "No". Megahed said when Allah created Adam and offered him this Amanah he said "I will bear it".

It is known that, when Allah offered this Trust to heaven, earth, and mountains, it was optional and not obligatory. If it was obligatory, they would not have the right to choose.

Great scholars said that the request in this verse is an example which aimed to prove that, despite of the hugeness of heaven, earth, and mountains, it was arduous for them to suffer the consequences of these orders and being subject to either rewards or punishment. This means that these orders are too huge for them to burden. However, Man accepted it. Allah said [But man bore it], same verse, which means Adam has been committed to it; himself and all his descendants when they were sworn at the beginning of their creation. [Verily, he was unjust and ignorant], same verse, this means that he was unjust to himself in accepting this Trust, as he was ignorant of how huge its magnitude and unable to appreciate the importance of the duties which Allah has ordained.

Ibn Abaas said: when Al-Amanah was offered to Adam, Allah said "take it all with all its contents, so, if you obey me, I will forgive you, but if you disobey me, you will be tormented". Adam said 'I accept it with all its contents'. It was not so long when he ate from the prohibited tree. This action was enough for him to be punished if it were not for God's mercy and guidance.

The word Al-Amanah [the Trust] in Arabic is derived from Al-Eman [the faith]. So, whoever preserves Al-Amanah, Allah preserves his faith. Prophet Mohamed (PPBUH) said (No faith for he, who has no trust, and no religion for he, who does not keep his promise).

It is mentioned in Zahr Al-Riad (the Gardens' flowers) book that, when man stands before Allah, in the Day of Judgment, Allah asks him "Did you give back Al-Amana [the deposit] you got from that man?". When this Man Says: No, I have not. Then Allah orders one of the angels to take him to hell and show him that Amanah (deposit) at the bottom of the hell. Then he falls down for 70 years till he reaches this deposit at the bottom of the hell. Then he climbs back up with it till he reaches the surface, but his leg slips and he falls again, and so, he keeps climbing and falling until Allah forgives him because of the prophet's intercession. Then, the deposit's owner forgives him too.
