Obedience of
Aisha
[AAH]
Mother of believers
People might think, which in fact a great misunderstanding in the
story of the slander, that sayyda Aisha [AAH]
was mad at the Prophet [PPBUH].
The story says that when the Prophet [PPBUH]
came to sayyda Aisha, the mother of believers [AAH],
with the good tiding of the declaration of her innocence by the
Qur'an revelation, he told her to thank Allah. At the same time her
mother told her to thank the Prophet [PPBUH].
So she had two commands at the same time and she chose to obey the
command of the Prophet [PPBUH]
over obeying that of her mother. So she thanked Allah as the Prophet
[PPBUH]
told her, and she did not thank the Prophet [PPBUH]
as her mother told her. Actually, she obeyed the Prophet [PPBUH]
because his obedience is obligatory over the obedience of the
parents, and she knows exactly what the Prophet likes more, which is
in fact an obedience to Allah, Almighty.
In the book of "the Joy of the Souls" by the pious Hafiz,
Abo-Mohamed Abdullah ibn Abo-Hamza
al-Azdi al-Andalusi [AAH].
He told us, in the story of the slander, about the virtue of
sayyda
Aisha [AAH]
explaining the truth about this misunderstanding:
The
obedience
of the Prophet [PPBUH]
is
preferred
to the obedience of the parents for her, because when the Prophet [PPBUH]
said to her (Thank Allah) and her mother said to her "Go to
the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH]",
she left what her mother told
her
to do and confirmed that with an oath. Yet she did exactly what the
Prophet [PPBUH]
told her to do, of praising and thanking Allah. Her mother only told
her to do that to be good to the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH]
and to serve him, and she took the saying of the Prophet (Thank
Allah) as a sign of good tiding not as an order. So her mother
told her to go to the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH],
as going to him [PPBUH]
is an act
of
obedience for him and for Allah, and all what is obedience for him [PPBUH]
and for Allah is also thanking for His grace. But sayyda Asiha [AAH]
knew better the her mother about the Prophet [PPBUH]
and what he likes better and what could be an offering for him,
especially when he stated that literary at
that
time. So she harried to do what she knew he likes and is his desired
action. As he would like Allah only to thanked for the blessing. So
that was an obedience for the Prophet [PPBUH]
and the silence of sayydi Abo-Bakr [AAH]
is a witness for that. As he would never stayed silent if she was
doing something wrong when she said: I swear by Allah I will not go
to him. As if that was not as we estimated, he would have reproached
her and forced her to go for him [PPBUH],
as he did that for something less than that in the story of Tayammom
[ablution with the rocks or dry earth]. That was when her necklace
got broken and he went in to hit her on her back and reproach her
saying: You kept the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH]
and the people are with no water. He did that while she did not
dropped the necklace on purpose and she did not say or do anything,
it was the Prophet who stayed with her voluntarily. So when her
speech and choice was in agreement with what he, sayydi
Abo-Bakr
[AAH],
wants and chooses, he was silent about it, and because it was in
agreement with what the Prophet [PPBUH]
wants and chooses also. This was an evidence on sayyda Aisha's
virtue and high ranking over others, as she watches out for the
acceptance and the pleasing of the Prophet [PPBUH]
over her parents, in spite of her young age. That was a reason for
her being specified with the Prophet [PPBUH]
with no one else, while all other wives of the Prophet [PPBUH]
married him after they were married to someone else and after they
were older. That was a virtue to be shown as all others were years
older and had marriage experience. The Prophet [PPBUH]
told that when Allah, Almighty, wants to create some new creature
then the water of the woman will get together with the water of the
man with His power. This water will go through the veins of the
woman for forty days, after that some water will be collected in the
uterus of the woman, then Allah, Almighty, would order an angel to
get between his fingers some dirt of the place that will make the
mud of that creature. The angel will get that dirt and mix it with
that water collected in the uterus. This dough will continue to
develop in the uterus until its creation. Then it will be pictured
according to the scripture that came with the Prophet [PPBUH].
The lands from which they get the dirt, are different, e.g. some are
rugged others are plain and some give plants others do not. Even the
lands that give plants; some of it give fruits soon others are
delayed, as the trees of some lands take years to give fruits, while
the trees of other lands do not take long to give fruits after it
grows out of the land. Like the land of Hejaz, its palm trees gives
fruits as soon as it grows out of the land.
Allah, Almighty, likened the belief to the tree in Qur'an, when He
said
[Do
you not see how Allah sets forth the
similitude of a good word? It is like a good tree, whose root is
firm and whose branches reach into sky]
Ibrahim 14: 24.
It was said that the tree here is the palm tree. The Prophet [PPBUH]
likened the perfection of belief to perfection of the sweetness of
the fruits of the tree, so he said (Three things, whoever find them,
will find the sweetness of the belief: That he loves Allah and His
Prophet more than anything else, that if he loves anyone, then it is
only for Allah, and that he hated to turn back into polytheism as he
hates to be thrown into hell). Here, the Prophet [PPBUH]
likened the perfection of belief to the tree's fruit when it becomes
mature, as sweetness is not found in the fruit except when it is
fully matured and perfected. It was for that reason that the Prophet
[PPBUH]
married sayyda Aisha [AAH]
while she was young. Because her dirt's origin was Hejaz physically
and meaning. So the fruit of her belief tree appeared and became
perfectly matured while she was young, and before the age of duty,
so imagine how she became after that. That is also why, when they
asked the Prophet; why does he prefer her to all his other wives, he
said (I have never been revealed to in the bed of any of you except
hers). So he preferred her due to what she was specified with, from
the moral picture not from the physical one. That is also why he [PPBUH]
said (Take half of your religion from her). This Hadith is a
proof for her virtue and her knowledge of Fiqh, Every word of this
Hadith came for a reason. Allah showed her high rank and dignity.
Some said that the Prophet's wives could not come to him until their
belief was complete, so that took some time of their lives. When
they became good enough for him [PPBUH],
they came to him [PPBUH].
As a good man can have only good woman, Allah said [Good
women are for good men, and good men for good women]
an-Nour
24:26.
Also the Prophet [PPBUH]
said in this context (If I were to take an intimate friend, I
would have taken Abo-Bakr as an intimate friend), and that was
only for the meaning that gathered them together. As no belief is
stronger than that of Abo-Bakr [AAH],
after the Prophet's [PPBUH].
The Prophet [PPBUH]
stated that when he said (Abo-Bakr was no better than you with
much praying or fasting, but with something staid gravely in his
heart), and here he is indicating the strong belief and
certainty.

Souls" by Abdullah ibn Abo-Gamrah [AAH]
