the Prophet - Companions - People of Allah - Barriers

'The Barriers from Al-Mohaimen are four' (qasida 5:16)

This is the motto of this section, which is for talking about the barriers that cuts off the Moslems' relations with Allah [Al-Mohaimen which is a name of Allah that means the Dominant who controls everything]. We need to know these barriers in order for us to be able to avoid or rectify them in our path to Allah.

This section started with a question from one of our viewers, which he sent to the Discussion page. We then found out that it is a big issue that needs more extensive discussion. We found a book made out of a research conducted by a group of brothers which took them 2 years to complete. This book discusses this subject extensively from the point of view of sayyidi Fakhraddin because it was made with the help of some of his older companions. The book's title is "al-Morshid al-Wagis" which means [the summarized guide].

You can find all special expressions in the Glossary. We need your comments to develop this site for you.

Like it or not!

I entered to him while he was reading a book. I did not care to know what he was reading, as I was absent–minded and thinking in what he said to me last time. I started talking in the subject without any salute or introductions, saying: and now, I do not know where my head from my legs is, I …. Then he interrupted me, saying: O, my son! Be merciful to me … Let me sit with myself for a while. I said: how would I leave you while I do not know, now, if I am on the right or the wrong track, true or false, straight or upside down. I want to know what did you mean with the speech that you said last time? He said: what did I say? Remind me, I said: you said that the source of Quran and Sunna is one who is Sayyduna the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH] and …., but he interrupted me saying: I did not say that the source of Quran and Sunna is Sayyduna the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH], but I said that: we took Quran and Sunna from One source who is Sayyduna the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH]. I said: and is there a different? He looked at me, with suspicious look, and said: what do you think? I said: anyway let us continue our subject, what did you mean with what you said? He replied and said: fine… we try to return a little bit backward. When we were talking about the obedience and we said that the love is obedience or that you would not obey well unless you love well, and that the true love must come from knowledge not from ignorance … I interrupted him saying: what makes knowledge mix with love! What I know is that knowledge is realized by minds and the love is realized by hearts. He replied: why do you separate between them? Well… I will ask you a question and you answer… do you love "Habashtakanat" [some meaningless word]? I said: what!!! What is this? He said: Exactly… so you must know something about it to be able to decide if you like it or not… so you first realize the thing by any sense of your senses and then if you accept it, you would feel inclined to it… is that not?... So we neither can separate between them nor can we say that they are one thing. But this is a thing and that is another thing, and if one of them prevailed over the other, it would be better that the domination be for the heart… why? Sayyduna the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH] said: (there is a piece in the body, if it was good; the whole body will be good. Verily! It is the heart), we say that the sound mind is in the sound body… so when the heart is fixed, then the body is fixed, and the mind is also fixed.

Our Lord, Almighty, said [My earth was not wide enough for Me nor My heaven, however the heart of My believer servant was wide enough for Me]… Do you understand? I said: somewhat, but explain more… as the topic of love is a great one and needs more explanation… he looked at me and said : listen, I will tell you the words of the great people, the true and right knowledgeable scholars who talked about the love … They said: loving is a lasting inclination with passionately in love heart, or watching the beloved in presence and absence, or belittle your much and begrudge the little from your beloved.

They said too: that the love of the servant for his Master is caused by two things:

The first is: the love of inclination which is acquired with the servant's consideration of the Lord’s grace to him and the kinds of His bestowing upon him, as the hearts are molded to love those who are kind to them. So the more a man looks at a grace from Allah's many graces, that cannot be counted nor numbered, the more grains will be grown in his heart. And every grace is greater than the one before it. Looking attentively at Allah's graces lights the hearts, increasing the belief and therefore the love.

The second is: uncovering the veils and removing the hindrances from the heart’s sight, causing its insight to clear then it sees the beauty and perfection of the Truth, Almighty, and beauty is always loved…

Those two reasons are the one Sd. Rabeia Al-Adawiya [AAH] said about them:

[I love You two loves, the inclination love

And a love that You deserve it]

[As for the inclination love

It is occupying me with Your Dhikr, from anything other than You]

[As for the one  that You deserve it,

it is Your uncovering the veils for me to see you]

[So the thanks for this or that is not to me

But to you is the thanks for this or that]

Then I said with a loud voice Allah… Allah… what a beautiful statement? How beauty this is? Tell me more, what did they say? He said: then you understand. I shook my head saying: NO… Why? So he burst out laughing until his eyes watered, then he calmed down and said: they said too: that loving Allah is caused by knowing Him, then the love increases by increasing the knowledge and vice-versa. You should know that if Allah's love fills the heart, it's effects appear allover the organs, as: diligence in His obedience, activeness for His service, keenness for His acceptance, enjoyment of his supplication, contentment with His fate, longing for His meeting, loving his Dhikr, feeling lonely with anyone other than him, escaping from people, staying alone in the retreats, taking the worldly life out from the heart, loving all what and whom Allah loves, and preferring Allah to all others.

I said: up to here, what you say is good, although I do not understand it quite well …, but I feel that it is a logical and rational saying, but I want to know, where do you want to go with this? He said: Our Lord, Almighty, says in His Honorable Book [those who pledge allegiance to you, truly, they pledge allegiance to Allah, the Hand of Allah is over their hands] al-Fath 48:10.

I interrupted him saying: sorry for the interruption… but I have some enquiries about that topic for sometime now, but I was afraid you would misunderstand me.

I was silent for a while; he looked at me encouraging me to continue my saying. I took a deep breath and looked around me searching for a place to hide in form the reaction of my saying on him. Then I said quickly: there are many people speaking much about the love and use the same verse and other verses in the Holly Quran - I ask Allah for forgiveness, I ask Allah for forgiveness - they say or it is understood from their saying that Sayyduna the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH] is the Lord, Almighty. Then I hid my face with my hands, but I was surprised when I heard him laughing and saying: what are you afraid of? What you say is not strange, as there is a problem… which is: those who speak about it, sometimes, are just repeating what they heard without understanding it, and sometimes the listener does not understand. Anyway, listen to me and decide if I am like those people or not… fine?

Look my sir, to explain the topic better, we need to return to Allah's words when he said to the angles [I'm making a Caliph on earth] al-Baqarah 2:30. Was Allah absent to need a Caliph instead of Him? of course not, but the truth is that we kept away from it and forgot the covenant that the Almighty took from us in the souls' world [Is not me your lord] al-A'raf :172. That is why Allah sends every while or century, a prophet or a messenger to some people in order for them to remember the covenant and to know that they have a Lord and worship Him. so, when it was time for the appearance of the Beloved [PPBUH] came, who is the most loved one of the creation to Allah, they came to pledge allegiance to the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH]. Then our Lord, Almighty, willing to show us how dear the Prophet [PPBUH] is to Him, He said [Those who pledge allegiance to you truly they pledge allegiance to Allah, the Hand of Allah over their hands, so whoever broke, truly he breaks on himself. And whoever fulfilled with what he pledged Allah on it, He would bestow upon him a great recompense] al-Fath 48:10.

When this verse was revealed, no one of the companions and believers objected on any word of it, but they consented and obeyed. As they [AAT] understood… not like the people who are demolishing the religion… they cannot understand this verse well, but our Lord, Almighty, silenced them with his words in that verse… So what do they do? They went to the two previous verses to that verse in Surat al-Fath 48:8-9, the Almighty says [we have sent you out as a witness, bringer of good tiding and warner ¤ to believe in Allah and His Messenger, to honor and revere him, and to praise Him early after dawn and late before sunset]. I will not say what they said. But I will say the saying of those who interpreted the meaning medially and did not go very high with the meaning nor depress down it like some people. They said: the speech is directed to Sayyduna the Prophet [PPBUH] firstly, then to the believers secondly. We did not send you except to be a witness on the creation, a Bearer of Good Tiding, for those who follow and obey you, of paradise, and a Warner of hell to for those who break their pledge with Allah and do not follow you. Then what does He mean by honoring and revering him? They said: honor and revere means strengthen by help and support…

Now concentrate on the following words, they said: and this cannot be except by the obedience, glorification and honoring… To whom? To Sayyduna the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH]. As for [and to praise Him early after dawn and late before sunset]: they said that: it refers to the Lord, Almighty. What do we understand from this? That our Lord, Almighty, defined two times to praise Him in, and left the honoring and revering to Sayyduna the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH] and did not confine it with time and place. So it became an obligation, rather a religious duty, on every believer to help, support, obey, glorify and honor Sayyduna the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH] everywhere and all times. Our Lord, Almighty, refuted the envious, spiteful and hypocrite ones in the verse number 10 from Surat al-Fath. As He, Almighty, said to them and to the believers too: Be cautious, this is the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH] who represents me… Any one who honors and reveres Him, in fact he is honoring and revering Me… His veneration is from my veneration and his loving is from My loving me, so the Almighty says [those who pledged allegiance to you, truly, they pledged allegiance to Allah, the Hand of Allah is over their hands].

Like  it or not… that is the way it is and you are free.
