His Blessings wherever He Went or Stayed

The echoes of the great Hijra are still rebounding between the sides of the people of religion, awaking every meaning within them, and every word. Until the talk about Hijra became a heaven smelling the fragrance of the fine smelling wine, for ever, coming down from the sky as blessed water that will flood the valleys of the hearts of the believers each as much flow as Allah, Almighty, gave him of His grace. Allah, the All-Wise, would give His wisdom to whoever He wills, and whoever gets it, then he is given a great goodness. The Generous Prophet has habituated us in every ritual of the religious rituals or in every rite, that it stays giving as a sweet fountain for all those who seek drinking, and a non-dryable spring for ever. So if you wanted to get to its bottom or get to the end of it, you will not be able to, then your eyes will come back to you with the news of as-Seddiq, the companion of the cave, announcing "the inability to understand perception is an understanding"…

One of the scenes of Hijra that were neglected by many, although it has a great goodness. That is the news about that old accepted and pleased lady, Om-Ma'bad al-Khuza'iya. That woman that made the female element on the top of those who carried the flag of Islam in the blessed Hijra journey. They have an unforgettable favor and an unplayable debt to all Muslims. What a beautiful saying that was like the tongue of the status of the Prophet [PPBUH]:

[if it was not for the men believers and

also the women believers, who] 6/5

[men have become compared to their wills as rearguards

and in some of their hand, was my banner] 6/6

[they have got some of my secret, of my will,

of my aspiration, and I gifted them with my praise] 6/7

We will try, with the help and support of Allah, to attentively read the words about Om-Ma'bad trying to get knowledge, guidance, and good morals from it through the Prophet [PPBUH]'s sayings, doings, conditions, and signals in this story that was narrated by Imam at-Tabarany in his Big Dictionary and al-Hakim in al-Mustadrak and many others. I am going to try to explain the words, as this Hadith was maybe not given enough attention because of its difficult words. I will comment whenever I feel there is a benefit or a signal, asking Allah to help, guide, and accept my work.

"from Hezam ibn Hesham ibn Khalid, from his father Hesham ibn Hubaish, from his father Hubaish ibn Khalid the companion of the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH], he is the brother of Om-Ma'bad whose name is Ateka bemt Khalid, said that the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH] when he went out of Mecca in Hijra to Medina with Abo-Bakr [AAH] and the servant of Abo-Bakr, Amer ibn Fuhayra [AAH], their guide was al-Laythi Abdullah ibn al-Uraiqit…"

Comments: the citizenship in the actions of the Prophet [PPBUH]: look at how he preceded the whole world in laying out the basis of citizenship terms, and choosing on basis of competence and fine human qualities not just blind doctrine fanaticism that we see nowadays. As if he is advising now his nation from his pulpit in the perfectly suitable time. He chose a disbeliever who had the Arabic sense of honor, honesty, and specialized competence to the guide for the journey that was the basis for building the whole religion to the end of time when Allah inherits the earth with all what is over it.

"… they passed by the two tents of Om-Ma'bad al-Khuza'iya. She was an old woman that does not take veils while she had reason and chastity. She used to talk to people without veil. She was also tough that stays under the dome, then she give people food and drink. They asked her to sell them meat and dates. But they did not find any. Her people were out of food and had nothing…"

Comments: Fate is driving to this generous woman someone who is most generous. She was a woman of hospitality and generosity. but the time was a time of dryness. Then Allah sent her a man that she never dreamed to see or know. She did not know that she can not oblige someone like him [PPBUH]. as he was born orphan to always be asking Allah (O, Allah, my people)! The wisdom of fate made his passing by her tent, while she was dried out. Then everything will turn around for him and Allah does what does…

"the Messenger of Allah looked at  a sheep at the corner of the tent. He said (O, Om-Ma'bad, what is this sheep)? She said: it is too tired to go out with the sheep. He said (Does it have any milk)? She said: It is more tired than that. He said (Do you allow me to milk it)? She said: Yes, my father and mother are for you. Yes if you find milk in it, milk it…"

Comments: the good words are of the fruits of politeness and physiognomy. The Infallible was looking around with the shepherd's look, and he is the best shepherd. He [PPBUH] looks to find anything that may be the material to show Allah’s support of him in providing generosity to gift the people of the tent. As they tried to be generous with him but could not. He sees the sheep as if it was destined for this… he get to the highest level of morals and asks permission to milk it… now comes the physiognomy of Om-Ma’bad as she have see a flash of his light, and felt the sweetness of his talk. Hear heart was washed will she is awake after long heedlessness, and sent a message to the tongue to be polite as you may be talking to the Arabic prophet. The tongue started talking words and letters as if it was a cloak of politeness. She said: Yes, my father and mother are for you. Yes if you find milk in it, milk it… yes he is the one deserving this speech. Would anyone else be deserving this love and politeness?!… that made its fruit when the Beloved and the Lord of the Beloved became satisfied.

"… they brought the sheep to the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH] and he rubbed its udder and said the Basmalah and prayed for Om-Ma’bad in her sheep. The sheep open between its legs getting ready for milking and made like it is going to give milk. The Prophet [PPBUH] ordered a big pot enough to quench the people's thirst. Then he milked it until the pot was filled and the milk foam came over it. Then he made Om-Ma'bad drink until she was full, then he made his companions drink until they were full, then he [PPBUH] drank. Then they drank again, then he milked it again until the pot was filled and he left it to Om-Ma'bad. He took her pledge of allegiance and they left…"

Comments: the rubbing by hand, the Basmalah and the praying: look at this strange and amazing sequence. It is his guidance [PPBUH] to say the Basmalah first then rub, but he [PPBUH] has the blessing, by his Lord, within him. Even his look at his companions was like raising and promoting for them. From Thabit that Anas narrated: when it was the day that the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH] came to Medina, everything in it was lighted, but before we shook the dirt off our hands from burying him, we could not believer our hearts… so by the rubbing of his hand the sheep healed and with the Basmalah the grant was completed and with the prayers the benefits reached everyone who drank from that sheep and its offspring. As for the owner of the sheep: after she pledged allegiance to the Prophet [PPBUH], she concealed his news [PPBUH] even from her husband when he came back.

"… it was not long until her husband, Abo-Ma'bad came leading some skinny sheep that could not hold themselves. When Abo-Ma'bad saw the milk, he said: where did you get that, o, Om-Ma'bad? Our sheep does not go to the pasture nor is pregnant and no milking sheep in the house? She said: By Allah, a blessed man passed by us, whose conditions was like so and so. He said: describe him for me, Om-Ma'bad…"

Comments: the description of the Prophet [PPBUH] is a section that have not been paid good attention, although it is one of the important duties in the religion. As it leads to the continuous connection to the Prophet [PPBUH] which in turn leads to the perfect following of him [PPBUH] Mawlana Imam Hasan and Mawlana Imam Husain, in two narrations, have asked their uncle Sd. Hend ibn Abo-Halah [AAH] to describe the Messenger of Allah for them. In the Branches of Belief by al-Bayhaqy, it was narrated from al-Hasan ibn Ali that he said: I asked my uncle Hend ibn Abo-Halah, who was a good describer, about the description of the Prophet [PPBUH]. I was wishing that he describes to me something I can hang to it. In another narration from al-Husain ibn Ali that he said: I asked my uncle Hend ibn Abo-Halah, who was a good describer. I was wishing that he describes to me something I can hang to it. He said… and these are the ones who inherited his merits [PPBUH] and as it was narrated in the Sahih Sunna.

"… she said: I have seen a man with clearly showing smartness, his face is shining white, good building, not skinny or weak, not degraded by a small head or tiny body, good looking, his eyes are black in shiny white, with nice bending eyelashes, his voice is sharp with hoarseness, his neck is long, his beard is dense but light or long, his eyebrows are curved with long ends and connected in the middle.

If he is silent, then he is covered with dignity, and if he speaks, then he is topped with glory. He the most beautiful and glorified if you look at him from a distance, and he is the best good looking if you see him from a close distance. He is eloquent and has the final decision, not prattler nor falter. His speech is like descending beads of poems. He is not so tall to be matched, and not so short to the eyes to go beyond him. He is like the most beautiful flourishing branch among two branches and the greatest One in his esteem. He has companions surrounding him, if he spoke, they would listen to his saying, and if he commanded, they would compete to his order. His companions serve and hurry to obey him. He is an obeyed One. He is not frowning and not confuting. Then Abo-Ma'bad said: by Allah, he is the One, from Quraish, whose matters were mentioned in Mecca. I intended to accompany him, and I will do if I find a way".

A comment: Abo-Ma'bad imbracing Islam: here, we have a question to those who calmed that to be polytheists: Abo-Talib, who is the Chosen Prophet's uncle  [PPBUH], and his parents. So we say: what is your opinion about who clams that Abo-Ma'bad became a Muslim after those good words which he said, just after he heard the Prophet [PPBUH]’s attributes from his wife Om-Ma'bad [AAH]. I think that he cannot be except a Muslim with a good Islam. And I see that there is an extremely important argument assures that, in the words of The Chosen Beloved  [PPBUH] (truly, deeds are judged by the intentions, and truly every one will gain what he intended). However, thanks to Allah, there is news from the knowledgeable people of history, mentioning the Ma’bads’ embracing Islam. So, what about those who defended him [PPBUH], facing all the world until he [PPBUH] passed, with his message, to the safe side. So may Allah accept you, O, Om-Ma'bad and you, O, Abo-Ma'bad, and what an example and a role model you set in the course of time!
