Sayydi Yusuf [PBUH] 6

Allah said [Then, when the bearer of glad tidings came, he laid it on his face and he became a seer once more] Yusuf 12:96. as soon as the this bearer of glad tiding came, he laid the shirt on the face of Yaqoub. Yaqoub became a seer immediately after he was blind, and then he said to his sons [He said: Said I not unto you that I know from Allah that which you know not?] Yusuf 12:96. i.e. I know that Allah will gather me to Yusuf and please me to my satisfaction with him and will show me in him and from him what pleases me.

Then [They said: O our father! Ask forgiveness of our sins for us, for lo! we were sinful] Yusuf 12:97. They asked him to ask Allah, Almighty, for their forgiveness from what they did to him and his son and what they intended to do. As in their intention there was repentance before they committed their act, Allah helped them asking for forgiveness when they did it. So their father responded to them when they asked him, saying [He said: I shall ask forgiveness for you of my Lord. Lo! He is the Forgiving, the Merciful] Yusuf 12:98. ibn Mas'oud and others said: He postponed them to the time of Sahar [an hour before dawn]. Ibn Garir said: Omar was coming to the Mosque and he heard someone saying "O, Allah, You called me and I answered, and You ordered me and I obeyed, and this is the time of Sahar, so forgive me". Omar listened to the voice, and found it coming from the house of Abdullah ibn Mas'oud. He asked Abdullah about it, and Abdullah said: Yaqoub postponed his sons to Sahar as [I shall ask forgiveness for you of my Lord]. In another narration (Yaqoub postponed his sons to the night of Friday). Ibn Abbas narrated that the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH] said about [I shall ask forgiveness for you of my Lord] that (up to the night of Friday, which is the saying of my brother Yaqoub to his sons).

This is how the lovers gathered after the long separation, which was said to be 80 years. The total of those who came with Yaqoub of his sons and their sons was 63 persons. It was said that when Yaqoub reached the land of Gasher [Belbeis now], Yusuf came out to meet him. Yaqoub had sent his son Yahoza before him to announce his coming. The king gave them the land of Gasher to live and stay in with their sheep and cattle. Some interpreters mentioned that Yaqoub [whose name is also Israel] was close enough, Yusuf wanted to go out and meet him, but the king rode out with him, to serve Yusuf and to honor the prophet of Allah Israel. Yaqoub prayed for the king and Allah took the rest of the dry years off the people of Egypt because of the blessings of his coming to them.

Allah said [And he raised his parents on the throne] Yusuf 12:100. it was said that his mother had died, as the scholars of Tawrat said. Some interpreters said: that Allah brought her back to life. Others said: it was his aunt [mother's sister] Leya, and the aunt is like the mother. Ibn Garir and others said: the obvious meaning of Qur'an make obligatory that she had to stay alive up to that day, so we can not depend on what the people of script said against it. Raised them on the throne: he made them sit with him on the kingdom bed. [and they fell down before him prostrate] Yusuf 12:100. i.e. the parents and the eleven brothers, out of honoring and glorifying, which was lawful for them and was accepted in all religion rules until it was forbidden in our Shari'a. [and he said: O my father! This is the interpretation of my dream of old] Yusuf 12:100. i.e. the interpretation of the vision I saw before and told you about it: of seeing eleven star, the sun, and the moon, when I saw them prostrating themselves to me, and you told me to keep it secret, and promised me what you promised at that time. [My Lord has made it true, and He has shown me kindness, since He took me out of the prison] Yusuf 12:100. i.e. after the worry and distress, He made me a ruler with enforceable words in Egypt as I will. [and has brought you from the desert] Yusuf 12:100. where they used to live in the land of the wagons in the countries of the horses. [after Satan had made strife between me and my brethren] Yusuf 12:100. Mentioning the former thing between them, then he said [Lo! my Lord is tender unto whom He will. He is the Knower, the Wise] Yusuf 12:100. i.e. if He wanted something, He makes the reasons for it and paves the way for it in arrangements that can not be realized by the servants, rather He hides it with His amiable acts and great powers. He is Knower of all matters and Wise in creation, rules, and destiny.

When Yusuf sold the food he had to the people of Egypt and the others with all their money of gold, silver, land, furniture, and what they owned even themselves and they became slaves. But then he gave them back their lands and released them free in return for giving the fifth of what they plant and their fruits to the king. This became the habit of the people of Egypt after him.

Ath-Thowaylab said that: Yusuf did never felt full during those years in order not to forget the hungry. He used to eat only one meal in the middle of the day. King took him as role model in that matter. We know that the prince of believers Omar ibn al-Khattab [AAH] never filled his stomach during the year of Ramada [dryness] until the dryness was over and the fertility came back.

When Yusuf [PBUH] saw that his grace was completed and his union has been gathered, he knew that this worldly life is not the staying home, everything in it and on it is evanescent, and after completion comes diminution. Then he praised his Lord and admitted His great favor and grace, and asked Him, and He is the best to be asked, to make him die on Islam and make him join the righteous servants. Ibn Abbas said: no prophet ever wished to die before Yusuf [O my Lord! You have given me of sovereignty and have taught me of the interpretation of events - Creator of the heavens and the earth! You art my Protecting Guardian in the world and the hereafter. Make me to die Muslim, and join me to the righteous] Yusuf 12:101.

Ibn Ishaq said that: Yaqoub stayed in Egypt at Yusuf's for seventeen years, then he passed away [AAH]. He had willed to Yusuf that he be buried with his fathers Ibrahim and Ishaq. As-Sadeyy said: He embalmed him and sent him in a cravan to Sham and buried him in the cave with his father Ishaq and his grandfather al-Khalil [Ibrahim] [PBUT]. Allah said [Or were you present when death came to Yaqoub, when he said unto his sons: What will you worship after me? They said: We shall worship your God, the God of your fathers, Ibrahim and Ishmail and Ishaq, One God, and unto Him we are Muslims] al-Baqarah 2:132. he willed his sons with the loyalty which is the religion of Islam that all prophets were sent with [PBUT].

They said that when Yaqoub passed away, the people of Egypt wiped for him 70 days. Yusuf ordered the doctors to scent him with the best scents, and he stayed in it 40 days. Then Yusuf got the permission of the king of Egypt to go out with his father to bury him with his folks. The king permitted him. The high ranked people and the sheikhs of Egypt came out with Yusuf until they reached Hebron [al-Khalil] and they buried him in the cave that Ibrahim al-Khalil had bought from Afron ibn Sakhr al-Haythy, and they made a funeral for solace for seven days. Then they went back to their country. The brothers of Yusuf paid their condolences to Yusuf and were nice to him, so he was generous and kind with them and they stayed in Egypt.

When Yusuf [PBUH] was about to pass away, he willed to be buried with his fathers. So he was embalmed and put in a coffin and kept him in Egypt until Musa [PBUH] took him out to be buried with his fathers. There is a difference about his place of burial and his been taken out of Egypt at all. Anyway, he passed away while he was 120 years old.
