Allah said in His honorable book [So We made it for Yusuf, to own the earth and do what he wants with it, that We give Our Mercy to whom We please, and We do not waste the reword of the excellently doing people] Yusuf 12:56. Sayydi Yusuf was one of the excellently doing people, rather he was the best at his time, so Allah gave him the control over the land of Egypt, until he owned it all. This came, when got the control over the country matters, by striving to collect food and increase agriculture until the drought years came. And dryness spread all over the countries of Egypt, Sham [Syria] and the surroundings. People then came to him, so he sold them food for what they have of money, in the first year, until they had no more money left. In the second year, he sold them food for their jewelry and clothes. In the third year, he sold them food for their house holds of furniture and effects. In the fourth year, he sold them food for their animals. In the fifth year, he sold them food for their houses and estates. In the sixth year, he sold them the food for their children. In the seventh year, he sold them the food for themselves, until he owned them all. Then Yusuf presented the whole matter to the king. The king left the whole matter for Yusuf, to do what he wants. So, Yusuf [PBUH] manumitted them and gave them back what he took from them. In the previous verse there was counseling for the people of affliction, if they were people of piety and Ihsan [excellent deeds and highest ranks]. It also contained good tiding for them of high standing after humiliation, richness after poverty, establishment on earth after oppression and contempt. [and every servant, when Allah wants to empower him then he will be at high stand, and the might of Allah will cover him] [his mightiness will appear on earth spreading as he will be the beloved to whoever called on him and he will answer him]
So, they drew lots among themselves and the lot was to Sham'on. Sd. Yusuf [PBUH] ordered his boys to prepare them. He also ordered them to put the money they paid to buy the wheat and food in their packsaddles so that they would know it and come back to return it. It was also said that returned their money to them just in case their father would not have enough money to send them back again. When they returned to their father with the many packages that Yusuf granted [PBUH] them, they said "O, father, the king of Egypt was so generous to us. If he was one of Yaqub sons, he would not do anymore. But he held Sham'on as a hostage until we bring him our brother Benjamin. So please send him with us the next time, o, father, so that we can get measure". [Now when they returned to their father, they said "O our father! No more measure shall we get. So send our brother with us, that we may get our measure; and we will indeed guard him] Yusuf 12:63.
Sd. Yaqub [PBUH] answered them [He said "Shall I entrust him to you save
as I entrusted his brother to you aforetime? But Allah is the best
guard, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy]
Yusuf 12:63.
Then they went to their packsaddles and opened it to find the money
they paid for the food and grains, they brought. So they hurried
back to Sd. Yaqub [PBUH] and said
"O, father, these are our moneys. It was returned to us. So send our
brother Benjamin with us so that we get more measure, and we will
guard him". [He said "Never will I send him with you until you
give me a solemn oath, in Allah's name, that you will be sure to
bring him back to me unless you are completely surrounded". And when
they gave him their solemn oath, he said "Be Allah the witness and
guardian over
Sd. Yaqub [PBUH] ordered them not to enter Egypt through one door, but from different separated ones [and he said "O my sons! Enter not all by one gate: enter by different gates. I can naught avail you against Allah: Lo! the decision rests with Allah only: On Him do I put my trust: and let all those who trust, put their trust on Him"] Yusuf 12:67. So they entered Egypt from where their father told them, then they gathered and entered to Sd. Yusuf [PBUH] while he was sitting on his bed in his palace. They said "O, king, this is our brother, the one you told us to bring to you". He said "You did good and right". Then he ordered the tables to be set and he made each two of them, from one mother, sit together on one table. Benjamin was left alone, so he cried. Sd. Yusuf [PBUH] said to him "what makes you cry"? He said "If my brother Yusuf was alive, I would have sat with him". Sd. Yusuf said "If you are alone, then I deserve you more, and I will let you stay with me in this palace, and eat with you". So when the night came he got them sacks. And asked each two brothers to sleep one one sack. And he told Benjamin to sleep alongside with him. When the morning came Benjamin told him how sad he was for his brother Yusuf. Sd. Yusuf [PBUH] said "Do you like for me to be your brother instead of your lost one"? Benjamin said "How would fine a brother like you, but you were not born by Yaqub and Rahil". Sd. Yusuf [PBUH] cried and stood up and held him, and said to him "Verily, I am you brother, so do not be upset of what they did to us before, as Allah has done us good. And do not tell them what you just knew". Sd. Yusuf [PBUH] told his boys to load the camels, and told them to put the kink's drinking cup in the packsaddle of his brother [And when he provided them with their provision, he put the drinking-cup in his brother's saddlebag, and then a crier cried: O camel-riders! Lo! you are surely thieves!] Yusuf 12:70. The chamberlain said to them "Was not the king good to you? Was not he generous"? They said "Yes". He said "then why did you take his drinking cup? It was lost ever since you came here. No one but you could have stolen it".
So what happened after?
