Good Tidings of the Prophet [PPBUH]

All prophets, from Adam's time until Mohamed [PPBUH], gave good tidings of the advent of the Messenger of Allah and His Beloved sayyiduna Mohamed [PPBUH]. They also told that he would be the Prophet of the prophets and that all other prophets followed Him with their nations. Ibn Abbas said 'Allah has not sent a prophet without making a covenant with him that if Mohamed is sent, while he is still alive, he would have followed Him and told his nation to follow and support Him'.

Mohamed Ibn Ashaq said 'Jewish rabbis, Christian and Arab priests were talking about the coming the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH] before He was sent and when His time approached. Jewish rabbis and Christian priests talked about his description and the description of his time from what they found in their books. They also talked about the covenant made by their prophets to support him when his time comes. Arab priests, however, were informed of him by the devils who were ear dropping in heaven, as they could do that before His coming without being thrown at, by shooting stars. Arab priests mentioned His news from time to time but Arabs did not care much about this news, until He was sent. At this time, they started to understand what they were told about Him. the devils were veiled from where they used to sit ear droping and were thrown by shooting stars, that is where these devils knew that there is a big event coming from Allah'.

Good Tidings from the Prophets

Quran witnesses this in several positions:

*   Ibrahim gave good tidings of him, when he built Ka'ba. He prayed to Allah: [And, our Lord, raise up in their midst a Messenger from among themselves] (Al-Baqarah 2:129). The messenger intended in this prayer is Prophet Mohamed [PPBUH]. So He is the Objective of Ibrahim's prayers [PPBUH].

*   Allah said [And remember when Jesus, son of Mary, said, ‘O Children of Israel, surely I am Allah’s Messenger unto you, fulfilling that which is before me of the Torah, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger who will come after me. His name will be Ahmad] (al-Saff 61:6)

*   Allah also said:[Those who follow the Messenger, the Prophet, the Immaculate one, whom they find mentioned in their Torah and the Gospel. He enjoins on them good, forbids them evil, makes lawful for them the good things, forbids them the bad, removes from them their burden and the shackles that were upon them. So those who shall believe in him, and honour and support him, and help him, and follow the light that has been sent down with him — these shall prosper]. (al-A'raf 7:157)

Ibn Saad, Ibn Abi Hatim and Abo Al-Sheikh said: that this means they found his description and prophecy in their books.

*   Ibn Saad and Ahmad narrated the speech of a desert Arab 'I brought a she-camel to Al-Madina during the life of the Prophet Mohamed [PPBUH]. When I was done with my sale, I decided to go meet Him and hear from Him. I saw Him walking between Abu Bakr and Omar. I followed them, until they passed by a Jew reading from Torah, as a consolation for his dying son as good and handsome as can be. The Prophet said (I ask you by who sent the Torah; do you find my description in your book?) The man nodded his head to mean 'no'. His son, the dying one, said 'By who sent Torah, we find in our book your description and where you came from. I witness that no god but Allah and that Mohamed is the Messenger of Allah'. The Prophet said (Set aside the Jew away from your brother). Then, He prepared, buried and prayed for him.

*   Ibn Saad, Albukhary, Ibn Jarir and Al-Bayhaqy narrated the speech of Ata’ Ibn Yassar 'I met Abullah Ibn Amro ibn Al-'As. I asked him about the description of Prophet Mohamed [PPBUH]. He answered that:

He is described in the Torah with some of his attributes in Qur'an; [O Prophet, truly We have sent thee as a Witness, and Bearer of glad tidings, and a Warner] (al-Ahzab 33:46). It is there too that He is the refuge for the illiterate. He is the servant and the messenger of Allah. He is named “Al-Mutawkkel” (who puts his trust in Allah). He is neither rough nor hard-heartened. He is not showy. He forgives people. He will not die, until people are on the right path, saying {no god but Allah}.  Through him, Allah will open blind eyes, deaf ears and closed hearts.

*   Allah says addressing the Jews [fulfill your covenant with Me, I will fulfill My covenant with you] (al-Baqarah 2:40) Your covenant, in this verse, means the one Allah made with them that whenever Mohamed [PPBUH] is sent, they should support him.

*  Allah says [when he came to them with clear proofs, they said: This is clear enchantment] (al-Saff 61:6). Ibn  Jirij interpreted “He” as Prophet Mohamed [PPBUH] who was mentioned in their books long time ago. When He was sent with the clear evidence, the unbelievers said that He is a magician.

*   Allah says [And when We turned towards thee a party of the Jinn who wished to hear the Qur’an and, when they were present at its recitation, they said to one another: Be silent and listen, and when it was finished, they went back to their people, warning them. They said: O our people, we have heard a Book, which has been sent down after Moses, fulfilling that which is before it; it guides to the truth, and to the right path] (al-Ahqaf 46:29-30)

*   Allah said [Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. And those who are with him are hard against the disbelievers, tender among themselves. Thou seest them bowing and prostrating themselves in Prayer, seeking grace from Allah and His Acceptance. Their mark is upon their faces, being the traces of prostrations. This is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is like unto a seed-produce that sends forth its sprout, then makes it strong; it then becomes thick, and stands firm on its stem, delighting the sowers, that He will cause the disbelievers to burn with rage at the sight of them. Allah has promised, unto those of them who believe and do good works, forgiveness and a great reward] (al-Fath 48: 29). It means that Prophet Mohamed [PPBUH] and his companions are mentioned in Torah and the Bible.

*   Allah said [And remember the time when Allah took a covenant from the prophets, saying: ‘Whatever I give you of the Book and Wisdom and then there comes to you a Messenger, fulfilling that which is with you, you shall believe in him and help him’. And He said: ‘Do you agree, and do you accept the responsibility which I lay upon you in this matter?’ They said, ‘We agree’; He said, ‘Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses’]. (A'l 'Omran 3:82). Imam Ali and Abdullah Ibn Abbas [AAT] interpreted this verse that Allah has made a covenant with every prophet from Adam to to Mohammad [PPBUH] to believe and support Mohamed in the case He was sent during there life. In turn, every prophet asked his people to follow Mohammad [PPBUH] and believe His message whenever he is sent. So, Mohammad is the prophet of prophets and all other prophets are under his flag; (The flag of praise is in my hand. All people starting from Adam are under my flag) (Hadith narrated by Anas)

*   Allah said [And when We took from the Prophets their covenant, and from thee, and from Noah] (33:8). In this regards, Abu Hurira narrated a Hadith; (I am the first prophet to be created and the last to be missioned).

Mohamed Ibn Ashaq stated that prophet’s companions once asked him to tell them about himself. He answered: (I am Ibrahim’s prayer and Jesus’ good tiding. When my mother delivered me, she saw a light coming out of her and lightening all Basra palaces in the Levant). In heaven, he was known even before creation. Imam Ahmad Ibn Al-Arbad narrated a Hadeeth: (I am a servant of Allah, the last Prophet, Ibrahim’s prayer, Jesus’ good tiding, my mother’s dream and the dreams of the mothers of believers). Imam Ahmad Ibn Al-Arbad stated that Maysara Ibn Fajr asked Prophet Mohamed [PPBUH] 'when did you become a prophet?' He replied (when Adam was between the creation of the body and the insertion of soul). Another narration bt Oza'y: (When Adam was still mud). Different narrations confirmed that He became a prophet before creation of Adam. Therefore, all prophets had to believe in him.
