Al-Hajj (cont') 3

[The pillars of religion are completed by Al-Hajj

to the House of Allah in the Holy country] (qasida 39:1)

In a completion to our topic about Al-Hajj in the previous editions, we say with the help of our Allah Almighty:

Allah -The Exalted and The Blessed- said at the beginning of Sura Al-Ma'ida [lawful to you is the beast of An'am except that which is now being recited to you (in the verse after)]. (Al-Ma'ida 5:1)

We have clarified that the beast of An'am has two meanings: the worldly meaning and the divine meaning as sayydi Muhyiddin said  in his interpretation. The first meaning is clear to any ordinary Muslim reciting and following Qur'an, which is camels, cattle, and sheep, as Al-Hassan, Kattada and a few other scholars [AAT] said. But the intrinsic latent meaning tells us that the beast of An'am refers to the purified selves that get their owners closer to Allah by killing their lusts and coming between them and their instincts through the great struggle against self. So the self here is a beast of An'am, and one sacrifices it to get closer to Allah.

So the worldly meaning of beasts of An'am refers to camel, cow and sheep that they are considered the food of our bodies, but souls and hearts are fed upon the meanings that come directly from  Allah, the true intrinsic meanings. We can get these meanings only from sincere worshipers, who sacrificed their souls for the sake of Allah, they got rid of their egos and their souls' emotions, they also maintained reciting the name of Allah with clear purified hearts. Those are the ones who were faithful to Allah, so He bestowed the goodness unto them and He put them in charge.  Allah, Blessed Almighty, honored them in the Qur'an and mentioned them in verses we recite. He said [And do not obey him whose heart We have made oblivious to Our remembrance, who followed his own whim, and whose conduct became excessively loose] (Al-Kahf 18:28), it means that you have to follow only who has an alive heart reciting with Dhikr, who is free completely from self ego and whim.  Allah also said: [Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger, and those charged with authority among you] (An-Nisa' 4:59). Those described, in the other verse, are the ones in authority who are worth to be followed in all matters of our religion.

So analyze dear faithful brothers and sisters what Satan said, then  be careful and choose whom to be with and whom to follow. The Damn Satan said to Allah, Blessed Almighty, [O My Lord, because You have misled me, I shall adorn for them the path of error on earth and I shall mislead them all * except those chosen slaves of Yours who are sincerely devoted] (Al-Hijr 15:39,40), So Satan excluded the devout slaves of Allah from this misguide because he knew well that he has no power over them. Allah said [Truly as for My devout slaves, you shall have no warrant, sway or ability, and Your Lord suffices as a guardian and protector for them] (Al-Esra' 17:65). Those are the truthful [Oh you who believe fear Allah and be with those who are truthful] (At-Tawbah 9:119), those who got rid of their selves, so their hearts became purified and clear, so they became truthful and free from the ego of their selves. So if we take the Qur'anic meanings from them, our hearts and spirits will promote and will raise up high to the divine proximity.

You know the divine house of Allah that we cruise around with our bodies. Now would you know the immaterial house of Allah that our hearts and souls cruise around? It was mentioned in our heritage that Allah, Blessed Almighty, said to the prophet Dawud: { Purify a house for me to dwell in. Dawud replied: O Lord, is there any house suitable enough for You?  Allah said: Neither My sky, nor My earth were suitable enough for me, but the heart of My faithful slave will be}. In other words, this heart will be suitable enough for Allah with knowledge. This heart that is filled with the divine light and occupied with secrets and  knowledge, will be a shelter and a reference to the devout slaves of Allah. If they can reach it and cruise around it, they will be safe from aberration, obstinacy, bad thoughts and misbelief.

All that was stated in the interpretation of Ibn Agiba, Al-Baher Al-Madid (The Vast Sea), the verse: [And when We appointed the House, to be a place of resort and sanctuary for mankind, and take you, O people, to yourselves Ibrahim’s Maqam (place) for a place of prayer. And We made a covenant with Ibrahim and Isma'il; ‘Purify My House for those who shall circumambulate it, those who cleave to it in ritual residence, and those who bow and prostrate themselves’] (Al-Bakara 2:125).

There is a relation between Al-Hajj and the verse [Lawful to you are all beasts of An'am]. This verse is number 1 in sura Al-Ma'ida, and verse number 3 in the same sura is [Today I have perfected your religion for you, and I have completed My favour upon you, and I have approved, chosen, Islam for you as religion]. The completion and the perfection of our religion was done by the fifth corner, Al-Hajj. This verse was revealed down in the farewell Hajj, on Friday afternoon on the mountain of Arafa, in the tenth year of Al-Hegra, and Our Massenger was on his camel Al-Adba'. This was mentioned by al-Niasabury [AAH] in his book (Reasons of Revelation).

The intrinsic latent meaning of the verse [lawful to you the beasts of An'am] as we mentioned earlier is the purified souls that Allah makes as lawful source of knowledge to take all our rituals of our true religion. Then Allah said: [except that which will be announced to you] it means that there are souls that are impurified. You should not take any knowledge from them. These souls are shown clearly in the next verse: [Forbidden to you  are the dead An'am - that were not slaughtered, the blood - that was spilled, the flesh of swine - pork, and what has been hallowed to other than Allah] Al-Ma'ida 5:3 ... till Allah said in the same verse [Today I have perfected your religion for you, ...]

Now think about this divine teaching that will lead us to the perfect religion.

Allah excepted, from An'am, the dead ones which means the souls that died of ignorance and heedlessness because they did not accept the purificationThe same way Allah does not want us to feed our bodies on the dead animals, He does not want us to feed our souls on the meanings that came out of heedless and ignorant souls.

Some interpreters said that the dead An'am is the worldly life that is clear in the words of our Prophet [PPBUH]: (The worldly life is a carrion - dead animal- and those who seek it are dogs). So we only take only our necessary needs from this worldly life just to keep us alive.

Some others said that the dead An'am refers to backbiting your brother, which is completely prohibited, unless we have to, like if you have to eat something or else you will die, then you may eat a dead animal. Otherwise it is not one bit lawful.

Al-Qoshiery said: "As with animal, the purified is lawful, but the dead is prohibited also who slaughters his self with the knives of the hard struggle and purifies it, then it is permitted to be near him and it is lawful to accompany him. And whosever soul died in darkness of his heedlessness until he does not feel anything about his religion, then his soul is malicious and no one should associate with or accompany him. His company will be unblest.

Allah sai in Qur'an: [Can he who was dead, to whom We gave life, and a light whereby he can walk amongst men, be like him who is in the depths of darkness, from which he can never come out?] (Al-An'am 6:122). The companions asked the Prophet about this, He replied: (he who always recites Allah -Dhikr- and he who never does, are like an alive one and a dead one). narrated by al-Bokhary. Also He said: (the house where Allah is always recited -Dhikr- and the one where He never is, are as an alive person and a dead one).

May Allah keep our hearts alive in this worldly life and in the hereafter, keep our masters pleased with us, and gives us their blessings.

To be continued ...
