His Hijra and the Secret of His Company

There is one factor, without which the relation between the Prophet [PPBUH] and his companions would not be correct. Also the salvation of the Muhammadian nation and Heaven is not granted without it. Exactly as he [PPBUH] mentioned in the Hadith of (the separation of the nation...), when he said about the saved sect (that does what I and my companions do). At-Turmuzy narrated that Abdullah ibn Amro [AAH] said: the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH] said (My nation would pass through all what the sons of Israel passed through, afoot for a foot. Even if they had someone did his mother in public, there would be someone in my nation who would do that. The sons of Israel has been separated into 72 sect and my nation would be separated into 73 sect. All of them are in hell except one). They said: Which is that o, Messenger of Allah? He said (what I and my companions do).

This metaphor used by our Prophet, the Arab, the Gracious, and the Most Merciful, is the talisman that should be solved by whoever seeks salvation with Allah and His Messenger. As not everyone knows the secret of this metaphor and not everyone can solve the talisman. Especially when the talisman is set by the one who never speaks out of subjectivity… it is only revelation that is revealed… taught by the very mighty. The one who looks attentively at the news of the Hijra of the Chosen One [PPBUH] may find what he is hardly looking for, after he sees how was the behavior of as-Siddiq [AAH] with his beloved the Chosen One [PPBUH], and how was the behavior of the father of al-Hasanien [al-Hasan & al-Husain] [AHHF]! Also when he sees how was the behavior of Sd. Asmaa and her brother Sd. Abdullah and their servant Amer ibn Fuhayra, and their hired man ibn al-Ayqat, who was a disbeliever! And how was Suraqah when he almost perished and then survived after Allah informed him of the secret of all secrets which is the secret of his company; the love of the Prophet, the Chosen One. When this love gets into the heart of a true sincere one then it will be the cause of salvation for him in this worldly life and in the hereafter.

A scrutiny in Hijra:

[al Tabrany narrated that Asmaa bent Abo-Bakr said: the Prophet [PPBUH] used to come to us in Mecca twice a day. When it was that day, he came to us at noon. I said: O, father, this is the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH], by my father and mother that he has not come at this hour except for something important…].

Comments: "the humbleness of the higher one to the one below him": look at the cordiality of the high ranked one to the ones below him, to show the honor and rank of as-Siddiq [AAH] and pave the way for accepting him as a successor after him [PPBUH].

[… the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH] said (Did you feel that Allah has given me the permission to go out)? Abo-Bakr [AAH] said: Then it is the company, O, Messenger of Allah. The Prophet said (the company) - i.e. he agreed to the company of Abo-Bakr - he said: I have two rides - camels - that I have fed since so and so, waiting for this day. So you take one of them. The Prophet said (for its price, o, Abo-Bakr). He: For its price – by my father and mother - if you wish…].

Comments: "the love of as-Siddiq": look my brother at the question of the prophet [PPBUH] to as-Siddiq [AAH]: Did you feel…? That is what happens to the lover, to be dyed by the dye of his beloved and so feel his feelings without being told about it. Then look at as-Siddiq the pure lover asking what the prophet want before he mentioned it! And how he is working his mind to be ready for what the Prophet [PPBUH] would want. So he feeds the two camel for 6 months just in case he would need them for what might happen. Then look at the extreme loving that blows out when the Prophet [PPBUH] talks about the company in the Hijra, but as-Siddiq asks him for it before being asked, as a kind of politeness with the high prestige of the Prophet [PPBUH] to make himself the one who asks for it not the one being asked. Sd. Aisha describes how as-Siddiq was delighted with this offer of company. She said: Abo-Bakr said the company, o, Messenger of Allah… by Allah I never know that someone would cry from joy until I saw Abo-Bakr crying that day…

[… she said: So we prepared some eating for them, and I cut my waistband and I wrapped it with part of it].

Comments: "the love of Asmaa bent as-Siddiq": this a scene showing some of the love of Sd. Asmaa bent Abo-Bakr. She one of those whom we mentioned above in the manifestation of love that helped the success of the Hijra of the Chosen One [PPBUH]. she did not find something to wrap the food for their journey, so she cut her waistband into two pieces and wrapped the food with part of it and the drinking bottle neck. When the Prophet [PPBUH] knew that, he said (May Allah compensate you for your waistband with two ones in paradise). Muslim. So she was called "the one with the two waistbands".

[… so they went out and stayed in the cave of the Thur mountain. When they got there, Abo-Bakr entered before him. He did not leave any hole there unless he entered his finger in it, for fear that it might have some kind of vermin in it. When they missed them, Qurish when out seeking them. They made a hundred camels reword for locating the Prophet [PPBUH]. They out circulating the Mecca mountains until they ended with the mountain they were hiding in. Abo-Bakr said about a man who stood just in front of them: O, Messenger of Allah, he sees us. He said (No. there are angels hiding us with their wings). That man sat and peed in front of the cave. The Messenger of Allah [PPBUH] said (if he sees us he would not have done that)…].

Comments: "Sacrifice and preference": one of the highest meanings of love is to prefer if there was harm to happen to you not your beloved. That is why as-Siddiq said to the Prophet [PPBUH] when he was about to enter the cave: Stay until I check the room. When he did and came out, he remembered that he did not check the holes. So he again said to the Prophet [PPBUH]: Stay until I check the room. Then he went inside and closed every hole with a stone, but was left so he closed it with his heel to keep any harm away from the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH].

[… they stayed there for 3 nights, with Amer ibn Fuhayra, the servant of Abo-Bakr, coming to them with some sheep for Abo-Bakr, and going back at dawn to be with the other shepherds in the morning in the grazing. He stays with the other shepherds all day and slows down when they are leaving until the night falls, and then he goes to the cave. The shepherds would think that Amer is with them all the time. Abdullah ibn Abo-Bakr stays in Mecca seeking the new. Then he comes to them in the darkness of the night and tells them the news, and go back at dawn, then he would be in Mecca in the morning…].

Comments: "the manifestation of the love to the Prophet [PPBUH]": Here you see Sd. Abdullah ibn Abo-Bakr and Sd. Amer ibn Fuhayra and another one called ibn Arqat -or Ayqat- the Prophet [PPBUH] hired him while he was a polytheist to guide them in the way… all of them manifested the love of the Prophet with a with a motto "We sacrifice ourselves for you, o, Messenger of Allah". All of them love the Prophet [PPBUH]. Even that polytheis, if he wanted to gain a hundred camel or he would be the closest one to get it… we that he did not because he found in the love of the Prophet [PPBUH] what owned his heart and soul…

[… then they went out of the cave, and took the path of the shore. Abo-Bakr kept walking in front of the Prophet then when thinks that harm could to him from behind, he walks behind him. he kept on this way. Abo-Baker was a known man. So if some one sees him and asks him about the Prophet, he would say: He is a guide guiding me. He means in religion and the man would think that he means in the way…].

Comments: "there is no blame for the lover in what he does": look at how the lover does when his mind is totally consumed for his beloved, then he would not care about the reasoning of his acts or the blame from and envious or heedless one… so if he remembers those who are seeking them, he walks behind him, and if he remembers those who are waiting for them, he walks in front of him, and once to his right and another to his left… he says: I do not feel safe for you… and that way in some narrations.

[… until they reached the homes of Qudaid, in their way, someone came to bany Mudlag and said: I saw two riders by the shore, and I think they are of the man of Quraish you are seeking. Suraqah ibn Malik said: No, they are two riders we sent for them. Then he called his girl servant and told her to take his horse out secretly and then he went after them. Suraqah said: I came closer to them. And in the narration of Imam Ahmed [AAH]: Abo-Bakr [AAH] said: we left with the people seeking us, but no one caught up with us except Suraqah ibn Malik ibn Gu'sham on a horse of his. I said: O, Messenger of Allah, this seeker caught up with us…].

Comments: this was Suraqah, who went out seeking the worldly life, but came back with the hereafter in his heart and the Prophet [PPBUH] as a companion.

[… He said (Do not be sad, Allah is with us)…].

Comments: "the caliphate is  a bird with two wings": the words of Prophet [PPBUH] to Abo-Bakr (Do not be sad, Allah is with us) is a gift from the beloved to the loving, as the saint have two descriptions which are [there is no fear for them nor they become sad]… and as-Siddiq had one of them that night when the Prophet [PPBUH] said to him (Do not be sad, Allah is with us)… then he got the safeness from fear on the day the Prophet [PPBUH] passed away, when all people cried but him. As-Siddiq stayed calm and holding himself together… for this he used to say his famous words "I do not feel safe from the wiliness of Allah, even if one of my feet is in pradise". So as if the caliphate has two wings: one id (do not be sad) and the other is [there is no fear for them nor they become sad].

[… until he came close to us up to a distance of a spire or two, I said: O, Messenger of Allah, this is the seeking caught up with us. And I cried. He said (why are you crying?) I said: not for myself, o, Messenger of Allah, but for you I cry. So the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH] prayed against him and said (O, Allah, spare us him with what you are willing). Then the legs of Suraqah's horse sank into the ground, while it was a solid ground. Suraqah dismounted the horse and said: O, Muhammad, I know that this is your doing, so ask Allah to save me and by Allah I would distract all those behind me from seeking you. And this is my quiver, so take an arrow from it, as you will pass by my sheep and camels].

Comments: "the mercy of the Prophet in his pray": the one who is wronged is in great need to the Power of Allah and his Mightiness to avenge himself on those who wronged him, the One who was sent as a Mercy for all worlds had another logic… see how he prayed against Suraqah and how his prayer came to be very eloquent… he merely asked for what he needs without asking for a way of revenge like we do. He said (O, Allah, spare us him)… then reached the extreme polite way with his Lord when he left the way of sparing for Him hopping that Allah would give him the best share and he would be guided to Islam… and that was what happened after as an acceptance to the intercession of the Most Merciful and Gracious… and how can this not happen when Suraqah's heart got righteously guided and said " O, Muhammad, I know that this is your doing, so ask Allah to save me". He had the good belief and the good asking, what a way! Then he also was honest in fulfilling he oath and hid the Prophet and his companion from whoever sought them after that, so also had the good deed… and thus the blessed ride was saved and waked blessedly to its destination… and we still have words about this…
