Great Ancestors' Books

Since we are constantly in need for the non-distorted books of our predecessors, and since some irresponsible groups had intentionally or unintentionally printed distorted books and spread them either in the markets or on the internet, there aroused an insisting need to find reliable sources for the books and knowledge of the virtuous predecessors. So, we are nominating to you some sister sites that choose accurately every book they present. This way you can easily find the books and texts of our predecessors which some people tried to hide and conceal, but Allah will complete His guidance, even if biased people dislike.

We will mention some of the books, from these sites, that sheikh Fakhr Eldin quoted from in his books and lessons. More information about these sites are in the library page in our main site.

A book from the library:

Fath al-Baari

The book of "Fath al-Baari with the explanation of Sahih al-Bukhary" of Hafez Ahmed ibn Ali ibn Hajar al-Asqalani, 773 to 852 H. He followed in his explanation a new method in which he gives the ascription same way as the lineages, and then he explains the Hadith. The researcher of this book has firstly mentioned the Hadith of the section in its wording before mentioning its explanation. Hafez ibn Hajar has mentioned his ascription from al-Bukhary at the beginning of the book, and then he began explaining the Hadith. This book has been read by a large group of knowledgeable scholars, they all praised it and some said poems about it, for what it contained of a comprehensive explanation. The researchers have compared the printed copy to the hand written one. They also made ascription and numbered its chapters, its sections and its Hadith. They purified the book from the errors that were in the previous editions. It was not easy reviewing it with the complete hand written copy that was found in some libraries in Gayzan, as it was not available to the researcher till the time of printing. The researcher has some opinions about the saying of  the expounder al-Hafez ibn Hajar, however this is the extent of  the researcher's knowledge, so we do not blame him for it, but we are only concerned with the saying of  the expounder.

The Knowledgeable Glorious Scholars

Thanks to Allah who has made the knowledgeable scholars successors to the prophets to inherit their manners and became role models for everyone. Many people got strayed and got away from the guidance of the Beloved [PPBUH] when they did not take the great old knowledgeable scholars of this nation as their source of knowledge, instead they became addicted to taking from the recent simple ones. This way they got away from what their righteous ancestors used to have and what was settled by the Islamic nation for decades and centuries.

The Prophet [PPBUH] said: (People are still in blessing as long as they took their knowledge from their knowledgeable elders. When they start taking from their young unknowledgeable ones then they are doomed). The Prophet [PPBUH] also said: (This religion is knowledge, so be careful who to get from). He [PPBUH] also said: (When the knowledgeable scholars die, people will choose their leaders from unknowledgeable ones. When they ask them, they will answer without knowledge, so they will lead astray and mislead everyone, and there is no strength no power but from Allah).

sayydi Fakhreddin Mohamed Osman [AAH] said:

[If you were asked: What is the book? It is       from what is narrated by the great scholars] (qasida 15:47)

All scholars agreed that no one can disparage any word from the Prophet [PPBUH] or judge it as being fabricated or weakly narrated, unless he has an absolute proof from Qur'an or Sunna of the Prophet [PPBUH]. From the start of the first century and up until now, great scholars [AAT] have taken the mission of preserving Turath of our true religion [inherited knowledge from the Prophet, His companions, and our great scholars]. They have been preserving it the same way as the Prophet [PPBUH] wanted them to do. That is how the authentic Hadith, true interpretations, and Historical events from the start of Mohammad' Message till our current day, were preserved and predicated honestly and truthfully. One of the main glorious scholars, with a great resume, is:

Hafez ibn Hajar al-Asqalani [AAH]

At the end of the eighth century of the Hegira , Egypt witnessed the birth of a bright star of the stars of Islam. He is the saint of Allah and the judge of judges, Shehab ad-Din Aboel-Fadl Ahmed ibn Ali ibn Ahmed. His origin is Asqalan. However his birth and growth were in Egypt. He was the reference for the scholars, the evidence for the Fiqh people, and the tongue of wisdom. Everyone loved to sit with him. Sheikh Yahya as-Sanafri has brought up the good tiding of his birth to his father when he said to him "Allah will give you a son who would be of great importance". He [AAH] was born in al-Fustat on the twelfth of Sha'ban in 773 H, and was known as ibn Hajar, this was a surname of one of his grandfathers. He [AAH] was born as an orphan, so the executor of his father, sheikh Zakyuddin al-Kharnobi, who was the head of the merchants in Egypt, supported him. Ibn Hajar completed memorizing the Qur'an when he was nine years old. When this executor went on Hajj in 784 H, he took ibn Hajar with him, that's what enabled him to study the knowledge of Hadith in Mecca while he was twelve years old. Sheikh Zakyuddin al-Kharnoubi passed away while he was seventeen years old .

When ibn Hajar [AAH] returned to Cairo, he studied on the hands of a great group of the knowledgeable scholars of his era and on top of them was Shams ad-Din al-Qattan, who took care of him. Ibn Hajar [AAH] has studied al-Fiqh, Arabic language and the knowledge of Qur'an. Then ibn Hajar turned to studying the Prophetic Hadith for ten years on the hands of sheikh al-Balqy and sheikh ibn al-Mulaqqan. Then he assumed teaching by an order from the sultan, al-Barqouqi, in the school of ash-Shaykhouniya in the quarter of sayyda  Zaynab [AAH]. Then he was appointed to the position of Fatwa and justice [giving Shari'a judgment]. He was also appointed as the judge of judges for ash-Shafie'yah.

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani has made many study trips in Egypt, Sham [Syria], Hejaz and Yemen. He dedicated himself to study Hadith and its classification. His writings in Hadith, Fiqh, interpretation and knowledge of Qur'an were almost one hundred and fifty books. One of the most famous of his books is "Fath al-Bari for the explanation of Sahih al-Bukhary", "the mastery in the virtues of Qur'an", "the comment of the comments", "the glory signs in the extraordinary and miraculous acts" and other great books.

As for the Historical Books: Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani has left great books for the historian library and the most important one of it is "telling the flooded about the sons of the age", which is a huge book in two big volumes. he recorded in this book what happened in the other Islamic nation from Turkestan to Moracco. Also the book of "the latent gems about the great figures of the eighth century", which is a great dictionary that included the biography of the great figures of the eighth century of Hijra, from the year of 701 to the end of the year 800. The third book was "removing the burden from the judges of Egypt", which is a comprehensive dictionary for the judges of Egypt who have assumed the judiciary since the Islamic victory and spreading to the end of the eighth century of the Hijra.

The beginning of al-Asqalani with the people of Allah was when he was the sheikh of the honorable Azhar. At that time there was one of the saints, sayydi Ali al-Khawwas who used to work in the craft of palm leaves. Sayydi Abdul-Wahab ash-Sha'rani was one of his seekers [AAH]. Whenever ibn Hajar used to pass by sayydi Ali al-Khawas, he would find sayydi ash-Sha'rani [AAH] setting beside him listening to him. Then ibn Hajar used to say to sayydi Abdul-Wahab ash-Sha'rani "Sham on the oriental robe and caftan you are wearing". Ibn Hajar has repeated these words to sayydi ash-Sha'rani more than once, so, sayydi ash-Sha'rani said to him "He is a saint of the greatest saints". Ibn Hajar used to say to him "forget about this saying". One day, ibn Hajar had a case to give a Fatwa about it, so he said "let's give it to this man and laugh on him". Then he gave it to sayydi ash-Sha'rani and said to him "if what you say is true, then he will solve this case and give a Fatwa for it", and he said "Allah never adopts an ignorant saint". Sayydi ash-Sha'rani took the case and went to the house of books, hoping to find a solution to this Fatwa, instead of going to sayydi Ali al-Khawas, as he knew that sayydi al-Khawas did not know how to read, so how will he solve it? Sayydi Ali al-Khawas met sayydi ash-Sha'rani and took him to his home. As time went by, the head of sayydi ash-Sha'rani was going rounds as he knew he will not leave him until the night came. When he was about to leave, sayydi al-Khawas said to him "The case you have in your pocket, give it to the first one you meet in the morning, as he will solve it for you and give you the Fatwa". For his surprise, the first one he met was a man working in the craft of whitening the brass. Sayydi ash-Sha'rani said to himself "How will I ask this man?" He left him and walked to the end of the street. When he did not find any one else, he was compelled to come back to that man. He asked him about his name. The man said "My name is Kouhin". Sayydi ash-Sha'rani wondered more and more and said "Also a Jew!" The man said to him "Give me the case, I am waiting to give you a Fatwa for it". Then the man said "Allah never adopts an ignorant saint and if he did adopt him, then He would teach him".

After that, ibn Hajar knew the postion of sayydi Ali al-Khawas [AAH]. He went to him barefooted, kissed his hand and learned from him. Sayydi Ali al-Khawas said to him "Write about the merits of al-Mustafa [the Chosen One] [PPBUH], then he wrote about the internal attributes of the Messenger [PPBUH].

Ibn Hajar [AAH] passed away in 852 H, in his house at Bab ash-Sha'riya when he was 79 years old. The day of his funeral procession was a memorable day and a great number of people prayed the funeral prayers for him. The sultan attended this prays. He was buried in his shrine towards Imam ash-Shafie'y, May Allah accept them all.
