'The Barriers from Al-Mohaimen are four' (qasida 5:16)

This is the motto of this section, which is for talking about the barriers that cuts off the Moslems' relations with Allah [Al-Mohaimen which is a name of Allah that means the Dominant who controls everything]. We need to know these barriers in order for us to be able to avoid or rectify them in our path to Allah.

This section started with a question from one of our viewers, which he sent to the Discussion page. We then found out that it is a big issue that needs more extensive discussion. We found a book made out of a research conducted by a group of brothers which took them 2 years to complete. This book discusses this subject extensively from the point of view of sayyidi Fakhraddin because it was made with the help of some of his older companions. The book's title is "al-Morshid al-Wagis" which means [the summarized guide].

You can find all special expressions in the Glossary. We need your comments to develop this site for you.

Subjectivity

Subjectivity is the king of the second kingdom that occupies the heart. As we said before that the heart is turning over and over. It does not settle down on one state. The Prophet [PPBUH] said (Verily, in the body there is a piece which if becomes good then the whole body becomes good. And if it becomes bad then the whole body becomes bad. That is the heart). al-Bokhary and Muslim. He also said (There is no slave of Allah, unless he has four eyes; two in the head to see his worldly life matters, and two in his heart to see the matters of his religion). "the soul of the meaning". Allah Almighty said [Do they not travel through the land, so that their hearts may thus learn wisdom and their ears may thus learn to hear? Truly it is not their eyes that are blind, but their hearts which are in their breasts] al-Hajj 22:46. So if a man ignores Dhikr, did not follow the path with a guiding saint, and if he became inclined to follow his subjectivity then he has no way for success.

In this case, one eyes of the heart will work for the the subjectivity, and the heart will be directed to to everything mean. Then the eyes will be blinded with the solicitude and busy with the worldly life. This solicitude is divided into: delusion, apprehension, or money [Dirham]. If the apprehension dominates, then one will be led by his apprehension and he will not accept any advise or counsel. Also solicitude will be accompanied with hope, and everyday will pass by without gaining the hopes will increase the solicitude. Imam Ali [AHHF] warned us saying: "Be ware of the hope in anyone but Allah, because this leads to forgetting Dhikr and make the mind inattentive. Because hope is conceit and the one with it is conceited, so you should accuse him of lying".

Also listen to what Allah said [Has not the Time arrived for the Believers that their hearts in all humility should engage in Dhikr of Allah and of the Truth which He has revealed, and that they should not become like those to whom was given the Scripture aforetime, but long ages passed over them and their hearts grew hard?] al-Hadid 57:16. The other eye of the heart will work with the scurrility and the heart will be directed to the desires and pleasures. In this context Imam Fakhreddin said:

[Arab Bedouins were delayed back because of being busy with the low world

who will connect them if we cut them and left them] (21/8)

Also said:

[Do not be solicitous because Allah is not unaware

and do not be a slave who pays back the delayed duties] (1/392)

Also said:

[And aberration guides to libertinism and to subjectivity

and Allah does not accept that a transgressor prevails] (76/20)

That is why the king of subjectivity will use the seven selves as ministers to run the affairs of these two eyes and will use the help of Satan and his soldiers in the direct execution. So he will use the money, women, love of leadership, prominence, and pride to execute his plans. Allah sais in Qur'an [And know ye that your possessions and your progeny are but a trial; and that it is Allah with Whom lies your highest reward] al-Anfal 8:28. Also said [Adorned for men is the love of lusts: Women and sons; Heaped-up hoards of gold and silver; branded horses; and cattle and well-tilled land. Such are the possessions of this world's life; but it is Allah with Whom there is an excellent destination] 'Aal Umran 3:14. The Prophet [PPBUH] advised ibn Omar (Be in the worldly life as a stranger or a passerby) al-Bokhary and Muslim. Imam Fakhreddin said:

[You, who became satisfied with worldly life     as indeed, the dead lamb is fats] (18/21)

All the previous Qur'anic verses, Hadith, and poet verses was about the dispraise of the worldly life, and we could not find one alternative in any Qur'an, Sunna, or sayings of the righteous people.

As for Satan, he swore, with Allah honor, to entice all people except the devoted ones. Allah told us about that, when He said [He said: "O my Lord! I swear of that, because You led me astray, I will deceive them in earth, and certainly I will mislead all of them Except The slaves among them, sincere and purified • Allah said: "This (way of My sincere slaves) is indeed a way that leads straight to Me • Verily, over My bondmen you have no control, save those misguided ones who follow you] al-Hijr 15:39-42.

You should know, may allah guide you, that there is an opening in the back of the body, opposite to the heart, that is called Satan's opening. This opening was closed for the Prophet [PPBUH] with the Prophecy stamp. The Prophet [PPBUH] said (If it was not for the devils circling around the hearts of the humans, they would have seen the heavenly world of the earth and sky), and in another narration; (they would have seen the wonders). "Me'raj al-Quds". So Satan would send one of his soldiers, of the Jin devils or linked Jin, and he would put his finger in this opening to turn the heart over. then the heart will pass through the self thoughts, and these thoughts will come from the cabinet of fiction at the back of the head to the imagining then to the illustrator. This illustration will stay infront of his eyes and he will be busy with it, and seeking to get it until he commits adultery, robbery, or sins like that. These thought will not stop, even for a moment, and with it one would be a slave for the scurrilities. Allah has described them as [And when it is said to them, Make not mischief on the earth, they say, 'we are but reformats'Verily! It is they who are the mischief-makers, but they perceive not] al-Baqara 2:11-12.
In case that a man or a woman is preoccupied with collecting the money, has no interest in any other thing, and stint to spend it on himself, his family, or for the sake of Allah, then he is a slave for the money [Dirham].

If he is someone  with knowledge that he collected from books, then Satan will delude him and give him suspicions through the thoughts until he thinks that he had it and understand it all. His straying will be that he sits at the apparent meaning of the words. Thus he is a slave of the delusion.

If he is someone with ideas or thinking that he was deluded in it until it became a basis for everything that he measure every creature against it, and he might also dare to use use his apprehension on the Creator. He would think that he has wisdom, of course he will be missing that wisdom is the inner side of the knowledge which only comes from Allah. This one will be a slave to the apprehension like the philosophers.

That is why the Prophet [PPBUH] said, in "the Correct" from Abo-Hurayra; (Woe to the slave of the Dinar! Woe to the slave of the Dirham! Woe to the slave of the nice black garment! Woe to the slave of the velvet garment! If he is given, he will be satisfied. If he is not given he will be angry. Woe and relapse to him, and if he gets a prickle he may not get it out). al-Bokhary. In another narration (Woe to the slave of the worldly life! Woe to the slave of the Dirham, the cloth, and the nice black garment!).

Imam Fakhreddin said:

[Woe to the slave of the apprehension! what a bad vessel his one

it waves watering to the thirst] (2/42)

[Woe to the slave of the delusion! He is strayed and never guided

He lost the path and suffered the damage] (2/43)

[What a bad slave is that of the money! his ride was deviated

and his haziness built him a transient building] (2/44)

All of this would come from the control of the king of subjectivity over the heart with help of all his seven ministers of selves and soldiers of worldly life and devils leaded by Satan. Allah the All-Truth says [But he will prosper who purifies himself And did Dhikr of the name of his Lord, then did prayer] al-A'la 87:14-15. First; the purification here is with the Dhikr of the name "Allah" and the "prayer" to the Prophet [PPBUH]. Because in this verse Allah mentioned Dhikr before prayer, and Dhikr is supererogatory not a duty, and since supererogatory activity can not come before the duty of prayer, then prayer here has to be supererogatory too, which is the prayer to the Prophet [PPBUH].

Second; In all verses that mention the duty of prayer, it was preceded with the raising of the prayer. Like Allah's saying [And raise the prayer and pay the Zakat] al-Baqara 2:43, His saying [Who believe without seeing, and raise the prayer] al-Baqara 2:3, His saying [and raise the prayer for My Dhikr] Taha 20:14, also His saying [No doubt, those who accepted faith and did good deeds and raised the prayer and paid the Zakat] al-Baqara 2:277. On the other hand His saying [But he will prosper who purifies himselfAnd did Dhikr of the name of his Lord, then did prayer], so "then" here is for the cause, i.e. the Dhikr was the cause for that prayer. The verse that mentioned the "prayer" without "raising" is when Allah said [Undoubtedly, Allah and His angels send prayers upon the Prophet, O you who believe! Send upon him prayers and submit to him with full submission] al-Ahzab 33:56. That is why Allah said [then did prayer], to indicate the following of the earlier command for the prayer upon the Prophet [PPBUH].

So you should know my brothers and sisters, that the door to the bigger Jihad must be opened, which is the jihad against the self. And the kingdom of the soul has to conquest the kingdom of subjectivity in the heart, and force it to surrender to what the Prophet [PPBUH] brought. As the Prophet [PPBUH] said (I swear to Allah, that no one of you would believe until his subjectivity would follow what I brought). an-Nawawy and "Belogh al-Moram". Then the eye of the heart will turn from solicitude to the will [Himma], which is the strong love to the Prophet and his family. The Prophet [PPBUH] did put his hand on Salman and said (even If the faith was on the Thoriya [a planet], it would be attained by some men - or a man - of those). al-Bokhary, that was an indication of the high will of sayydi Salman. As a result of this high will sayydi Salman gained the honor of joining the house of the Prophet [Ahl-al-Bait], and the Prophet [PPBUH] said (Salman is from us, Ahl-al-Bait). Ibn Sa'd, al-Tabarany, al-Hakem, and ibn Asaker. The other eye which was working with scurrility, will turn into vision, as the Beloved [PPBUH] said (Be ware of the vision of the believer, as he sees with the light of Allah). at-Turmuzy and ibn Garir.

This way the state of the heart will turn over, and the characteristics of the self will be exchanged with the Lordly qualities. Which is being (Hearer, seer, capable, alive, wanter, speaker, knowledgeable) according to the divine Hadith (I would be the hearing he hears with, the seeing he sees with, the hand he hits with, and the legs he walks with). al-Bokhary.
