Great Ancestors' Books

Since we are constantly in need for the non-distorted books of our predecessors, and since some irresponsible groups had intentionally or unintentionally printed distorted books and spread them either in the markets or on the internet, there aroused an insisting need to find reliable sources for the books and knowledge of the virtuous predecessors. So, we are nominating to you some sister sites that choose accurately every book they present. This way you can easily find the books and texts of our predecessors which some people tried to hide and conceal, but Allah will complete His guidance, even if biased people dislike.

We will mention some of the books, from these sites, that sheikh Fakhr Eldin quoted from in his books and lessons. More information about these sites are in the library page in our main site.

The Knowledgeable Glorious Scholars

Thanks to Allah who has made the knowledgeable scholars successors to the prophets to inherit their manners and became role models for everyone. Many people got strayed and got away from the guidance of the Beloved [PPBUH] when they did not take the great old knowledgeable scholars of this nation as their source of knowledge, instead they became addicted to taking from the recent simple ones. This way they got away from what their righteous ancestors used to have and what was settled by the Islamic nation for decades and centuries.

The Prophet [PPBUH] said: (People are still in blessing as long as they took their knowledge from their knowledgeable elders. When they start taking from their young unknowledgeable ones then they are doomed). The Prophet [PPBUH] also said: (This religion is knowledge, so be careful who to get from). He [PPBUH] also said: (When the knowledgeable scholars die, people will choose their leaders from unknowledgeable ones. When they ask them, they will answer without knowledge, so they will lead astray and mislead everyone, and there is no strength no power but from Allah).

sayydi Fakhreddin Mohamed Osman [AAH] said:

[If you were asked: What is the book? It is       from what is narrated by the great scholars] (qasida 15:47)

All scholars agreed that no one can disparage any word from the Prophet [PPBUH] or judge it as being fabricated or weakly narrated, unless he has an absolute proof from Qur'an or Sunna of the Prophet [PPBUH]. From the start of the first century and up until now, great scholars [AAT] have taken the mission of preserving Turath of our true religion [inherited knowledge from the Prophet, His companions, and our great scholars]. They have been preserving it the same way as the Prophet [PPBUH] wanted them to do. That is how the authentic Hadith, true interpretations, and Historical events from the start of Mohammad' Message till our current day, were preserved and predicated honestly and truthfully. One of the main glorious scholars, with a great resume, is:

Imam al-Bukhary

He is Mohamed ibn Ismail ibn al-Moghira, and his nickname is al-Bukhary. He was born after the Friday prayer of the 13th of Shawal 194H. His roots are from Ozbec, one of the cities of Bokhara of Uzbekistan one of the countries that used to be Russian. Al-Bukhary was of Parisian origin. The first one of his grandfathers to Convert to Islam was al-Moghira ibn Bard-zaba, and his Islam was on the hand of al-Yamany al-Ga'fy, the ruler of Bokhara. That is why he was related to this tribe and was loyally committed to it, and al-Ga'fy was a relation name for him and his family after him.

He is the great Imam, the excellent Hadith man, one of the glorious scholars who was raised by Islam, remembered because of their knowledge, and got what they deserved of high rank and prestige. He is the prince of Hadith and the reference for all people in their Fatwa. The classification of Hadith reached the top on his hands. His book "Sahih al-Bukhary" was praised by the consensus of the whole nation, as the second most correct book after the Book of Allah [Qur'an]. This book, "Sahih al-Bukhary", had a high place in all the hearts, scholars were reading it in the Masjids as they were reading the Qur'an. The book also was highly reputed like the four doctrines and the great leaders and conquerors.

He had an early excellence that stunned everyone around him. He [AAH] was at the top quality in shyness, courage, generosity, piety, and asceticism. He had a comprehending heart, an amazing memory, and a great ability to memorize, as he memorized Qur'an and the principals of the Arabic language, and he also acquired a great deal of Fiqh and memorized many Hadith while he was still 10 years old.

He was brought up in an honorable family which had money and religion. His father was a knowledgeable and a Hadith man who was known among people to be of good manners and wide knowledge. His mother was a righteous woman and was not less than his father in piety and righteousness. Al-Bukhary grew up as an orphan, as his father died early and his mother took care of his growing and education. She used to urge him to learn and make him love it. So he grew up to have a straight self, incorrupt tongue, generous characteristics, and seeking obedience. As soon as he memorized Qur'an, he started attending the circles of the Hadith at this early age, as he was inclined to Hadith and found it to be sweet in his heart. Al-Bukhary said that at that young age, ten years or less, he was given the gift of memorizing the Hadith. He had a photographic memory, nothing would be lost from him, anything heard, seen, or read of the books of Hadith, It was said that he only needed to look at the book once to memorize it. Islamic history has not seen anyone quite like him in the memory and accuracy of narration. He had an illness with his eyes and he almost lost his sight. His mother saw our prophet al-Khalil Ibrahim [PBUH], and he said to her: O, you! Allah has returned the sight to your son because of how much you cried and prayed. In the morning he had his sight back. They say he never wrote any Hadith unless he performed ablution then made a two Rak'a prayer to get the blessing and help of Allah.

His journey seeking knowledge:

The start was when he went for Hajj with his mother and brother. After Hajj he stayed back from his family to seek Hadith and learn from sheikhs. He was 16 years old at that time. He made the two Harams as the start of his journey, and he stayed there for six years learning from their sheikhs. Then he set out for the urban cities of the Islamic world, sitting with their scholars, discussing with the Hadith people, collecting Hadith, and holding Hadith sittings. He bore all the troubles of the travel and moving around, He did not leave any urban city of knowledge unless he went there and narrated from its sheikhs. He went to Maccah, Bagdad, Basra, Kufa, Damascus, Qeysariya, Asqalan, Kharasan, Neyasabour, Egypt, and other cities rich with scholars. Al-Bukhary [AAH] said: I went to Sham, Egypt, Gajeera for two times, Basra for four times, and stayed in Hegaz [Maccah and Medina] for six years. I can not count how many time I went to Bagdad and Kufa. Imam Ahmed ibn Hanbal - one of the four Imams - [AAH] urged him to stay in Bagdad and belamed him for staying in Neyasabour.

His sheikhs:

It was not strange for some one like him to have from more than one thousand sheikhs of the great scholars. He [AAH] said: "I wrote about a thousand of trusted scholars and more, I do not have any Hadith that I do not know its ascription". He also said: "I wrote Hadith from one thousand and eighty souls, none of them unless he is a man of Hadith". Al-Bukhary did not narrate all he took or hear from his sheikhs, rather he investigated and inspected all what he took. Among his sheikhs were: Ahmed ibn Hanbal, Yahya ibn Ma'yn, Ishaq ibn Rahawiyh, Ali ibn al-Madeiny, Qutaiba ibn Saad, Abo-Bakr ibn Shayba, and Abo-Hatim ar-Razy.

His books:

Many reasons were behind the plenty of book that al-Bukhary wrote. Allah gave him the sharp intelligence, strong memory, patience and endurance for knowledge and learning, wide knowledge about Prophetic Hadith, its states, its men, their justice, and complete experience of the ascription both strong and weak. Add to all this that he started writing when he was 18 years old. He wrote more than 20 books; like:

"al-Game' al-Sahih" known as "Sahih al-Bukhary" in which he spent 16 years, composing, collecting and classifying, which is the lenght of his journey seeking knowledge. The reason he started this book is that one night he saw an amazing dream which had a great effect in all his life: He saw him self standing in front of the Prophet [PPBUH] holding a fan in his hand and using it to push away the harm from the Prophet [PPBUH]. He was puzeled and astonished, so he went to his sheikhs to ask them for an interpretation for his dream. They joyfully told him: With Allah's will, you are going to defend the Prophet [PPBUH] against the lies and falsification. Then al-Bukhary remembered when his sheikh ibn Rahawiyh, the great scholar of Kharasan, told his students: Would you collect a summarized book about the correct Sunna of the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH]. These words were settled in his heart. So he started writing his book. He chose the 7275 Hadith of this book from among six hundred thousand Hadith. Because he was accurate in accepting the narration ascription, and he had rules about that. The rule was that a narrator must be contemporary to whoever he narrates from and has to have seen and heard from him both. Besides he has to be trusted, just, accurate, sure, knowledgeable, and pious. These were the rules, and he started writing in al-Ka'ba [the Holy Masjid] and the Prophetic Masjid. He was not in a hurry to publish it, until he finished, reviewed, and corrected it. He did its classification three times before it became what we have today. The sheikhs of al-Bukhary liked the book, so did his co-scholars. While many of them were experts in Hadith like: Ahmed ibn Hanbal, Ali ibn al-Madiny, and Yahya ibn Ma'yn, they all witnessed for its correctness and how all of its Hadith were Sahih. Then the whole nation took it and held on to it as the most correct book after the Qur'an. Many scholars took it for explanation, commenting, and studying. Even non -Muslim scholars studied and translated it. Tens of books were written about it.

We mention from his other books some like: "the Single Literature", "the Big History" which is a big book about the biography of the Hadith narrators, and "the Small History" which is a summary about the Prophet and his companions and follower until 235H.

His journey back home started after the hard work seeking knowledge and writing books. He went back to Neyasabour to live there. The jealousy of other sheikhs of his fame, respect, and glorification, drove them to go to the governor of the city to accuse him and make sedition for him. Al-Bukhary had to leave for his home city in Bukhara, where he was received as a conqueror with triumphal arches and throwing money over his entering parade. As soon as he stayed there, the prince of the city sent for him to come tell him the Hadith. He refused to humiliate the knowledge by carrying it to rulers. He sent to him: if want to hear the Hadith, you should come to it or else you can prevent me from teaching and be my excuse to Allah. The unjust prince made a plot for him and exiled him to village called Khazantk, which is known till now as "the foreigner friend".

What scholars said about him:

All scholars in his time and after that witnessed for his precedence in the art of Hadith. They called him the prince of believers in Hadith which is the highest degree anyone ever had. They all commended him the best of commendation. Imam ibn Khozayma said: nothing under the sky higher than Imam al-Bukhary. One of the sheikhs said: We sat with the sheikhs, scholars, ascetics, and worshipers, but I have never seen like al-Bukhary. His great student, Imam Muslim the writer of "Sahih Muslim", said to al-Bukhary while kissing his head: Let me kiss you legs master of teachers. master of Hadith tellers, and doctor of Hadith in its illness.

His death:

He died on Saturday at al-Esha' prayer, on the night of the Fitr feast. They gave him his funeral prayer on the day of the feast after the Dhuhr prayer. He was shrouded in three white dresses with no shirt or turban as he so left in his will. He was 62 years old when he died.
