Great Ancestors' Books

Since we are constantly in need for the non-distorted books of our predecessors, and since some irresponsible groups had intentionally or unintentionally printed distorted books and spread them either in the markets or on the internet, there aroused an insisting need to find reliable sources for the books and knowledge of the virtuous predecessors. So, we are nominating to you some sister sites that choose accurately every book they present. This way you can easily find the books and texts of our predecessors which some people tried to hide and conceal, but Allah will complete His guidance, even if biased people dislike.

We will mention some of the books, from these sites, that sheikh Fakhr Eldin quoted from in his books and lessons. More information about these sites are in the library page in our main site.

Al-Ebriz

Al-Ebriz from the lessons of sayyidi Abdul-Aziz al-Dabbagh, where Ahmed ibn al-Mubarak is writing about the history of sayyidi Abdul-Aziz al-Dabbagh whose lineage goes to Mawlana Imam al-Husin [AAH]. He introduces in three chapters about the the phases of his life, his teachers and contemporaries, the gifts of knowledge that was bestowed upon him, and his miraculous acts. Then, he writes in 12 sections about his high-leveled Sufi knowledge of the devine and everlasting science and his states and miraculous acts. The book came out to contain Sufi wisdoms and high status knowledge that can teach beginners, appreciators, and high-ranked seekers at the same time. Its writing style is easy and enjoyable. It also has interpretation of Qur'an and Hadith as well as the opinions of people of Sunna and consensus, the type that built the Sufism and was consented by scholars, such as Sufian al-Thawri, Malik, Abu-Hanifa, al-Shafe'i, Ibn Hanbal, al-bukhari, al-Turmuzi, Ibn al-Mubarak and others. Sayyidi Fakhraddin commended this book and his source and often quoted from it. The original book was not tampered with by the publisher.

Considering the virtue of Dhikr

Question: Do Dhikr, praising, and praying Allah work as good as Sadaqa [giving alms] and replace it in preventing the scourge?

The Answer: Many Hadith and Prophetic traditions clearly elaborated the preference of Dhikr to Sadaqa [giving alms]. As for preventing scourges by Dhikr, it is doubtless, as there are countless praises mentioned in Hadith to protect from any kind of scourges, such as Satan, harm, poison, stings of scorpion, or any thing one hates. Al-Adhkar by Mohieddin Al-Nawawy and Doaa' [Supplication] by Al-Tabarany and Al-Baihaqy are filled up with these Hadith. So there is no need to prolong this. It is mentioned also that praising Allah by saying "La-Hawla-Walla-Kowata-Ila-Bellah" [There is no power or strength except from Allah] protects from seventy kinds of scourges, the least of which is "poverty", in another narration, "worry". Al-Hakem narrated, and traceably accepted, Thawaban (Nothing can stop fate except supplications)

Al-Hakem narrated also Aisha bint Abu-Bakr saying: (Supplications protect from the descending fate [from sky to earth to get executed] and even the one not descending yet. So when a scourge is falling, it meets [the ascending] supplication and they fight together till the Judgment day). He quoted another Hadith like it from Ibn Omar.

Abo Dawood and others quoted Hadith from Ibn Abbas that says: (whoever keeps asking Allah for his forgiveness, Allah will give him a relief for every worry, a way out from every difficulty, and a subsistance from where he does not expect). Ibn Abi-Sheba qouted from swid ibn Gamil: (the words: 'La-Ilah-Illa-Allah [There is no god but Allah], Laho-Al-Hamd [Praise be to Whom], Wa-Howa-Alla-kol-Shai'en-Qadir' [and He has the power to do everything], Whoever recites these words after al-Asr prayer, they will fight for him until he recites them again the next day). Ishak ibn Rahawia quoted from Al-Zohary that Abu-Bakr Al-Seddik once came carrying a crow with large wings and he said that he heard the Prophet Muhammad [PPBUH] saying: (Never a prey is hunted, a bite is bitten, nor a close tie is broken except because of lack of praising Allah). Abo el-Na'im also narrated in Al-Helya [Ornament] a similar Hadith by Abo Huraira. Abo el-Sheikh narrated the same Hadith in his Al-Aazama [the Greatness], and another one by Abi-eddardaa' (Never a bird nor a whale is hunted, except because of losing their praising to Allah). Yazid Marthad narrated a Hadith with the same meaning. Anas also narrated that: (The time of death of all animals and vermin of the earth is determined by their praising to Allah. When they stop praising  Allah, He collects their souls).

There are many Hadith regarding the preference of reciting Allah's name to giving Alms. Al-Hakem and at-Turmodhy narrated a Hadith by Abi-eddardaa' that Prophet Muhammad said to his companions: (Do you want me to tell you about something, which is the best for you, the purest to your lord, the most upgrading for your degrees, better for you than giving away gold and silver, and even better than fighting your enemies and kill or be killed by them?). His companions answered: "O Messenger of Allah! What is that?". He Said (Dhikr  Allah) [reciting the name of Allah].

Al-Turmodhy qouted from Abi-Sa'id el-Khodary that Prophet Mohammad [PPBUH] was asked: "who of the worshippers is the highest in rank for Allah on the judgment day?". He said: (Those who recite Allah's name very much). I said: "O Allah's Messenger! Even more than the one who fights in the name of Allah?" the Prophet [PPHUB] answered: (Even if, he was killing the disbelivers and polytheists, till his sword was broken and he got covered with blood, still al-Dhakiron Allah [reciters of Allah's name] are better than him in degree).

Al-Hakem quoted from Al-baraa that: (the words: 'La-Ilah-Ila-Allah [There is no god but Allah], Wahdaho-La-Sharik-Laho [without partner], Laho-Almolk [He has the dominance]Wa-Laho-Alhamd [And to Him all the thanks are given], Wa-Howa-Alla-Kolli-Shai'en-kadir [And He has the power to do everything], whoever says these words ten times, it will be as if he emancipated a slave). Al-Baihaqy quoted  in Shoaab al-Eman [Branches of faith] from Anas that the Prophet [PPBUH] said: (To sit with a group of people who recites Allah's name from Fajr [dawn] prayer till sunrise, is better than emancipating  four slaves from the sons of Ismail). In these two Hadith, He equalized and preferred reciting Allah's name to emancipation of slaves.

Ibn Abi-Shaiba quoted in Al-Mousanaf [the classified] from ibn Masoud that the Prophet [PPBUH] said: (Praising Allah a number of times is better, for me, than giving away as much Dinars for the sake of Allah). Ibn Abi-Shaiba also quoted from Ibn Masoud from the Prophet [PPBUH]: (Saying: Sobhan Allah [Glory to Allah], Wa-Al-Hamdu-lillah [And praised be Allah], Wa-La-Ilah-Ila-Allah [And there is no god but Allah], Wa-Allaho-Akbar [And Allah is the greatest] is better for me than giving alms with as much Dinars). He quoted from Abdullah ibn Amro ibn Al-'As from the Prophet [PPBUH]: (The words: Sobhan Allah [Glory to Allah], Wa-Al-Hamdu-lillah [And praised be Allah], Wa-La-Ilah-Ila-Allah [And there is no god but Allah], Wa-Allaho-Akbar [And Allah is the greatest]. To say these words a number of times is better for me than giving away as much of what horses can carry). Ibn Amro narrated  also: (Praising Allah in the dawn and the dusk is more virtuous than fighting for the sake of Allah and giving alms incessantly).

Abi Aldardaa narrated: (Praising Allah one hundred times is preferable to me than giving one hundred Dinars to the needy). Moaz Abn Jabal narrated: (If there are two persons, one fights on his horse for the sake of Allah and the other reciting Allah's name, the reciter would be greater and gets more reward). He also narrated: (Praising Allah from dawn till sunrise is preferable to me than riding my horse and fighting for Allah's sake).

Salman al-Faresy narrated: (if one man stayed all night giving away good slaves and another one stayed all night reciting Allah's name or reciting Qur'an, he would consider the reciter to be the better one). Ibn Umar narrated: (If two men walked towards each other, one coming from the east and the other from the west. One of them spending gold only in charities while the other recites Allah's name. When they meet each other on the road, the one who recites Allah's name will be the better one). Those are seven companions of Prophet muhammad [PPBUH] professed the preferance of reciting Allah's name to giving alms.

Also followers supported the idea, as Ibn Abi-Shaiba narrated that Ibn al-Ahwas Said: "Even a praise to Allah, to ask for his help, is better than giving away a good she-camel filled with milk in a very infertile year". It was narrated that Abi Burda said: "If we have two men, the first doles money from his filled lap, while the other recites Allah's name, the reciter will be better".

There are many evidences regarding this topic and what we mentioned is enough. What supports this topic, the preference of Dhikr [reciting Allah's name] to all other worships, is that it is not allowed to leave it in any case.

Ibn Garir quoted from Qatada's: "Allah dictated Dhikr during the busiest times of fighting with swords. As Allah said in Qur'an [O you who believe! When you meet (an enemy) force, take a firm stand against them and recite the Allah's name much, so that you may be successful] (al-Anfal 8:45).
