Moses' mother [AAH]

[And the heart of Moses' mother became void] al-Qasas 28:10

Omran's wife was Moses' mother [AAH], at-Tabari has mentioned the lineage of Moses [PBUH] in his interpretation and said "He is Moses ibn Omran ibn Ys-har ibn Qaheth ibn Lawy ibn Jacob (Israel)".

Moses' mother [AAH] was an example of the patient, believer, and a firmly standing woman. She was a woman who relied on her Lord and was obedient to His commands. She was a satisfied and reassured woman who was always seeking the help of Allah.

Bani Israel were undergoing many terribleness in Egypt, as Pharaoh was fed up with them and started to enslave them and to severely torture them. That was a result of what he saw in a terrifying dream, that was when he called for the diviner to interpret his dream. They said to him that a child is to be born in Bani Israel, who will take away the king's reign, take over your power and change your religion. They also told him that the time for this child to be born has come, then.

Pharaoh did not care for anything except for what concerned keeping his reign. So he killed the children without any mercy or pity and sent his soldiers everywhere to kill every boy that was born for Bani Israel. It was said to Pharaoh, when his soldiers persisted in killing the sons of Bani Israel, that if it continues like this, the old men and the boys will eventually die and that their women will not be able to do what the men are doing of the hard work, and thus we will have to do it ourselves. As Bani Israel had been working in the service of the Egyptians. Thus Pharaoh ordered to leave the boys for a year and kill them for a year.

Pharaoh's men were searching among the women and recording the names of every woman who became pregnant and when the time of her parturition came, they would not allow any one to make the delivery except the women subordinated to Pharaoh. And If a woman gave birth to female, they would have left her, but if it was a male, it would have been killed by those murderers and then they would have left her.

Under the dark clouds of oppression, the strong winds of panic, and the crys of the mourning mothers whose children were killed unjustly, the horror controlled the entity of Omran's wife whose heart was seized fear. As the time of parturition of her fetus had come, and he would be born in the year in which children were to be killed by Pharaoh.

She sank into deep thinking, pulled back and forth between the certainty of faith, the mother's eagerness for her son, and the insinuations of Satan who wanted to shake her firm faith. So she was always seeking the help of Allah and seeking refuge in Him from this wicked insinuations.

Because of the Wisdom and the Glory of Allah, the signs of pregnancy did not appear on Omran's wife like any other woman, so the midwifes didn't realize her pregnancy. But as soon as she gave birth to Moses [PBUH], an extreme fear of the oppression of Pharaoh and his soldiers controled her, and was overcome with the worries for her son. She continued crying till Allah, Almighty, inspired her and commanded her to put her son (Moses) in a box and cast it into the Nile river, Allah, Almighty, said [We inspired to Moses's mother to breastfeed him and if you feared for him, cast him into the sea and do not be afraid and do not be sad, for We will bring him back to you and make him one of The Messengers] Al-Qasas 28:7. The house of Moses' mother was overlooking the shore of the river , she made a coffin for her little child and began to breastfeed him, and if anyone of those she feared entered her home, she would put him (her son) in the coffin and sent it on the river while binding it with a rope she had.

One day Moses' mother feared for her little child, as Pharaoh's soldiers approached her house, so she hurried and put the little child in the coffin and sent it on the river, but this time she forgot to bind the coffin which went up the river. The river carried it till it passed by Pharaoh's palace. The coffin stopped in front of the palace. The female slaves brought it to Pharaoh's wife. When she uncovered the little child's face, Allah bestowed his love into her heart, as she was barren. The news of the little child spread in the palace until it reached Pharaoh. Pharaoh hurried up and came towards the little child intending to kill, however his wife adjured him to leave the little child. Allah Almighty said [And Phraoh's woman said: A Delight for me and for you, do not kill him so that he may help us or we make him our son while no one knows this] Al-Qasas 28:9.

The heart of Moses' mother [AAH] was about to stop, as she saw her son in a coffin floating on the middle of the river, however Allah strengthened her faith and gave her patience. Moses' mother said to her daughter: "Follow and watch over Moses, and do not let anyone feel what you do". Her heart was rending of grief for her child who had been swept by the river away from her. Allah Almighty said [And the heart of Moses' mother became empty, that she was about to disclose what is inside her heart, except for we had strengthened her faith inside her heart so that she can remain as one of the believers She said to his sister follow him, so that she watched him from a far side while making no one feel this] Al-Qasas 28:10-11

Pharaoh's woman became so glad with Moses [PBUH] while he kept crying as he was hungry. Nevertheless he did not have a desire to suckle from any wet nurse. They went with him to the market so that they might find a woman good for his suckling. When his sister saw him in their hands, she knew him secretly without being felt by anyone .

She (the sister of Moses) said to them: I know who might suckle him, then she took him to his mother. Allah, Almighty, said [we had forbidden  the wet nurses to breastfeed him before, Untill she (his sister) said: shall I guide you to the people who can rear him for you and will look after him in a good manner? Thus we brought him (Moses) back to his mother, so that she might be delighted and not be sad, and so that she knows that the promise of Allah is true, however most of people do not know this] Al-Qasas 28:12-13, This is Allah's fate which shows some flashes from time to time, to make people certain that Allah, The creator of the heavens and the earth, is Able to do anything and everything. Allah Almighty said [And  Allah has full power over His affairs, however most of people know not] Yusuf 12:21.

As soon as Moses [PBUT] arrived to his mother, he toke her breast to breastfeed. The female slaves were so delighted of that and the bringer of glad tidings went to Pharaoh's wife who sent for Moses' mother and gave her charity and a lot of money without knowing that she was actually Moses' mother. Then Pharaoh's wife asked Moses' mother to stay in her house to breastfeed him, but she refused and said: I have a husband and children, so I can not stay in you house, then Moses' mother took him to her house, while Pharaoh's wife covered the expenses of Moses [PBUH].

Thus, Moses' mother went back with her little child satisfied and reassured. Moses [PBUT] and his mother lived under the protection of Pharaoh and his soldiers. Their conditions were changed due to the virtue of the faith and  patience of Moses' mother. It was only one day and night between distress and relief. Glory be to Allah, Who has the full power and control over All Affairs!!!  Those who fear Allah, He will save them from every grief and distress, and make their heart full of mettle.
