Great Ancestors' Books

Since we are constantly in need for the non-distorted books of our predecessors, and since some irresponsible groups had intentionally or unintentionally printed distorted books and spread them either in the markets or on the internet, there aroused an insisting need to find reliable sources for the books and knowledge of the virtuous predecessors. So, we are nominating to you some sister sites that choose accurately every book they present. This way you can easily find the books and texts of our predecessors which some people tried to hide and conceal, but Allah will complete His guidance, even if biased people dislike.

We will mention some of the books, from these sites, that sheikh Fakhr Eldin quoted from in his books and lessons. More information about these sites are in the library page in our main site.

The Knowledgeable Glorious Scholars

Thanks to Allah who has made the knowledgeable scholars successors to the prophets to inherit their manners and became role models for everyone. Many people got strayed and got away from the guidance of the Beloved [PPBUH] when they did not take the great old knowledgeable scholars of this nation as their source of knowledge, instead they became addicted to taking from the recent simple ones. This way they got away from what their righteous ancestors used to have and what was settled by the Islamic nation for decades and centuries.

The Prophet [PPBUH] said: (People are still in blessing as long as they took their knowledge from their knowledgeable elders. When they start taking from their young unknowledgeable ones then they are doomed). The Prophet [PPBUH] also said: (This religion is knowledge, so be careful who to get from). He [PPBUH] also said: (When the knowledgeable scholars die, people will choose their leaders from unknowledgeable ones. When they ask them, they will answer without knowledge, so they will lead astray and mislead everyone, and there is no strength no power but from Allah).

sayydi Fakhreddin Mohamed Osman [AAH] said:

[If you were asked: What is the book? It is       from what is narrated by the great scholars] (qasida 15:47)

All scholars agreed that no one can disparage any word from the Prophet [PPBUH] or judge it as being fabricated or weakly narrated, unless he has an absolute proof from Qur'an or Sunna of the Prophet [PPBUH]. From the start of the first century and up until now, great scholars [AAT] have taken the mission of preserving Turath of our true religion [inherited knowledge from the Prophet, His companions, and our great scholars]. They have been preserving it the same way as the Prophet [PPBUH] wanted them to do. That is how the authentic Hadith, true interpretations, and Historical events from the start of Mohammad' Message till our current day, were preserved and predicated honestly and truthfully. One of the main glorious scholars, with a great resume, is:

Imam al-Bayhaqy

He is Abi--Bakr ibn al-Husain ibn Ali ibn Abdullah ibn Moss al-Bayhaqy al-Kharasani. Bayhaq is a big city from near Niasabour, with plenty of buildings, and an uncountable number of knowledgeable people and men of Fiqh. He was born in the village of Khesrow Gald, in Sha'ban of the year 384H. He received good care since he was born. Al-al-Bayhaqy says, himself, "I wrote Hadith when I was 15 years old. And I started seeking knowledge, writing the news of sayydi the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH], writing the traces of the companions who were the flags of the religion, hearing this information from whoever has it, learning about the narrators from the Hafiz's, and striving to discriminate the correct from the ill".

Al-Bayhaqy got his knowledge from honorable Imams and scholars, each one of them was like a high mountain of knowledge. That was reflected in his writings, so it honestly showed this picture and expressed his love for Sunna and his inclination to the truth. He wrote many books to support the Imam Shafe'i doctrine, until he became famous for all the scholars of his time. Imam of the two Harams [al-Ka'ba and the Prophetic Masjid] said about him his famous words "No one of the Shafe'i doctrine unless ash-Shafe'i has a favor over him, except Ahmed al-Bayhaqy, who has a favor over ash-Shafe'i". Imam az-Zahabi said that al-Bayhaqy is the first one to collect the text of ash-Shafe'i, and Imam as-Sobky said that he is also the last one.

What honorable Imams and scholars said about him:

One of them said: Al-Bayhaqy was one of the Imams of Islam and caller for the mighty robe of Allah. Another one said: He was an honorable man of Fiqh, a great Hafiz, a pious ascetic, one of the mountains of knowledge, and a standing one for supporting the doctrine origins and branches.

The biography books did not mention how al-Bayhaqy started his scholar life nor did it give us a clear picture about his family, his childhood, and his growth. Yet these books did not miss telling us about his interest and passion in research and reading which took him beyond the boundaries of his village, and moved him to Iraq, Fares, and Higaz. So he got a lot of knowledge fro the scholars there, who were more than hundred.

He learn the science of speech from Imam al-Ash'ary, and the science of Hadith from sheikh Abi-Abdullah al-Hakim, and the science of Fiqh from sheikh Abi-al-Fat-h Nasir ibn Mohamed al-Amry. Scholars said about him that he took the science of Hadith and Fiqh, and so he became the one for his time and the knight of his field.

Of his honorable sheikhs, is the great Hafiz Abi-Abdullah Mohamed ibn Abdullah an-Niasaboury (351-405)H, and also sheikh of the honorable one [Folk of the Household], Mohamed ibn al-Husain ibn Mosa al-Azeddy an-Niasaboury (303-412)H, and sheikh Abi-Ishaq at-Tawsy. And from the Sufi people the great Abi-Mohamed Abdullah ibn Yusuf ibn Ahmed al-Asbahany. And sheikh os the Shafe'i people; the Fiqh man, the accurate, the proving, the grammer man, and the interpreter Abdullah ibn Yusuf.

So he [AAH] wrote Hadith, memorized it, understood it, and excelled in it. He started with the origins and then wrote almost a thousand books in fields that he was not preceded in. He [AAH] was one of the working scholars who followed the Chosen Prophet [PPBUH] and walked in his path and according to the companions [AAT]. He imitated the asceticism of the Prophet [PPBUH] and the companions, and so according to their method he became ascetic with low interest in the worldly life and a great deal of worship, piety, and watching for Allah in every small or big issue.

With all his book, which were over a thousand, we talk about some of it:

As-Sunan al-Kobra: one of the most important of his books. Imam as-Sobky testified for it saying "nothing was written in Hadith Like this book in rectification, arrangement and quality". So it was a great encyclopedia in Hadith arranged according to the Fiqh sections.

Sunan and Traces: No man of Fiqh of the Shafe'i doctrine can spare this book, and actually not even any other one, because of what it gathered of the rulings that is supported by the Qur'an and Sunna. It compared between the sayings of the men of Fiqh with mentioning their evidences and evaluating it for correctness and weakness. It is one of the encyclopedias in comparison Fiqh that is rare to the likes of it. It showed that Imam ash-Shafe'i did not issue any section with an unknown narration nor did he built any ruling on an unsound Hadith.

Names and Attributes: This book is with no equal, as Imam as-Sobly said. As al-Bayhaqy collected in it the names of Allah. Almighty, and its evidence from the Qur'an, Sunna, and unanimity, He started it with praising Allah then listing the names of Allah, Almighty, and connecting it with its meanings. It is in five sections. He also said that there are other names for Allah than these ones.

The Signs of the Prophecy and the Conditions of the Holder of Shari'a: It talked about the birth of the Prophet [PPBUH], his growth, his noble origin, and the death of his father, mother and grandfather [AAT]. It also talked about his qualities, characteristics, and merits, also about his asceticism of the worldly life and his biography until his passing away.

The Belief: as-Sobky said about it "I swear it has no equal". It is about the believes and what has to be known and admitted of it. He talked in it about a lot of the differences that need guidance like the names and attributes of the Divine Self, the attributes, the attributes of the merits, the sitting on the throne, and so on...

The Branches of Faith: This is a big book in 6 binders. It talks about the branches of faith that is mentioned in the Hadith by the Prophet [PPBUH] when he said (Faith is some seventy branches. The highest of it is "there is no God but Allah" and the least of it is clearing the harm from the way, and being shy is from the Faith). He did not collect all these braches to discuss it, rather he reported it detailed with all its evidences, explanation and all supporting ascription.

The Merits of ash-Shafe'i: He collected there all what was written about the merits of ash-Shafe'i, from his noble relations especially the Quraishian one, his birth, growth, education, learning, knowledge, books, and his acknowledgement by the scholars of his time.

The Big Prayers: it collected all traces about the prayers that the Prophet [PPBUH] used or taught to some of his companions.

the Prove of the Torture in the Grave and the Questions by the two Angels: It stated the legal proves from Qur'an, Sunna, and the sayings of the righteous predecessors to prove the torture in the grave and the questions by the two Angels. It showed how it is rational and lawfully applicable fro Shari'a point of view.

In the field of Asceticism and piety: He wrote around 63 books in this field, and many other books, about all of which we do not have enough space.

He died on the 10th of Gomada al-Ula in the year 458H, while he was 74 years old, and was buried in the city of Bayhaq.
