It is revealed to me

Allah Almighty says: [Oh Mohammad, say I am only a man like you, it is reveled to me]someone may think; it is something normal and easy, but this matter (revelation) is great, it needs a special and unique kind of humans, as Imam Al-Boseyri said:

[All we know about Him, is that He is a man      but no one, among all humans, is like Him]

Let’s explore what the companions of the Messenger said about the proofs of the prophethood in the revelation:

Ibn Abbas said about the verse [when fear is banished from their hearts] Saba' 34:23, that every tribe of  the jinn had a place in the heaven, from where they could hear the revelation, during the revelation they would hear a sound as the sound of an iron chain passing over the solid rocks. When revelation passes every heaven it’s dwellers are thundered, then when fear is banished from their hearts they say: what did Your Lord say? they reply: the truth and He is The Almighty. Then they say that what is going to happen this year is so and so. The jinn hear that and tell the soothsayers, who, in turn, tell the people. The people find that it actually happens. When Allah, the Exalted, sent the Messenger [PPBUH], they were expelled to the end of the Hadith of ibn Abbas. Now look how the angles are thundered because of the revelation and how they can not bear it and do not understand it until fear is banished from their heart. So how about the Prophet who receives, bears and tells the revelation to the people at the same time.

Gaber said that he heard the Messenger talking about the time of the revelation. In His talk, the Messenger said: (while I was walking I heard a sound coming from heaven. So I lifted my head and looked up. It was the angle, who came to me in Hera' cave, sitting on a chair between heaven and earth. I trembled with fear from him and I came back home saying "cover me, cover me" So they wrapped me up, and Allah reveals down [O thou covered in thy cloak ¤ Arise and warn! ¤ Thy Lord glorify! ¤ Thy raiment purify! ¤ Pollution shun!] al-Moddather 74:1-5 that was before the prayers was made due - and by pollution Allah meant idols. narrated by Muslem, al-Bokhari, and Abdul-RazaakNow speculate the words of the Prophet [PPBUH] (I trembled with fear from him).

Sayyda Aisha said: revelation to the Prophet [PPBUH] began with a good dream in His sleep. He did not have any dream, unless it came true exactly as if he has seen it in the clear morning. Then He liked to go out in the seclusion. He used to go to the cave of Hera' to worship and stayed in it for many nights with His supplies. Then He return to Khadija who would give supplies for more, until one day the Truth surprised Him while He was in Hera'. The angle came to him and said [read] The Messenger of Allah [PPBUH] replied [what should I read. The Messenger of Allah [PPBUH] said: (so the angle hugged me so hard till I was tired then he released me, and said [read]. The angles did that three times then he said [Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth ¤ Createth man from a clot ¤ read and your Lord is the most Bounteous ¤ Who teacheth by the pen ¤ Teacheth man that which he knew not] al-'Alaq 96:1-5. After that the Prophet [PPBUH] returned to his wife Khadiga trembling and shivering saying: (wrap me, cover me). They covered Him up, till He calm down. Then He said (O, Khadija, what happened to me?). Then He told her what happened and said: (I feared for myself). She said: "No, You should cheer up. Allah will never let You down. You always maintain close relations with your kinship, you are truthful in speech, you carry the weakened, you host the guest, and you help whoever have tragedy"... to the end of Hadith that is narrated by Muslem and al-Bokhari. Speculate these words (the angle hugged me so hard till I was tired). Allah prepared Messenger [PPBUH] with what no one else has been prepared, and that was the preference that is implied in Allah’s saying  [It is revealed  to me].

Ibn Shehab said  that Sa'id ibn al-Mosayeb said: "the first thing that the Prophet [PPBUH] saw, was a dream. As it became hard for Him to hold it to Himself, He told it to his wife Khadija whom Allah purified and protected her from being a denier, her heart was delighted with the belief of The Messenger, so she said to him: "You cheer up. as Allah will do You nothing but good"Then He went out. When he returned, he told her that his abdomen was  opened, washed, and cleansed, then it was returned as it was before. She said: "I swear this is good, so You cheer up". Then Gabriel appeared to Him while He was on a high place in Maccah. Gabriel made Him sit on an honorable admirable place. The Prophet said: (Gabriel seated me on something like a rug decorated with  pearl and coral). Gabriel gave Him the glad tiding of Allah’s message, until He calmed down. Gabriel said: read. The Messengr replied (how can I read). Gabriel said:[Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth ¤ Createth man from a clot ¤ read and your Lord is the most Bounteous ¤ Who teacheth by the pen ¤ Teacheth man that which he knew not] al-'Alaq 96:1-5. Some people claim that Surat al-Moddather is the first Sura to revealed to Him, but Allah knows". So speculate carefully how Allah prepared Him [PPBUH] well by opening, washing and purifying His chest. Do you know of anyone else Allah did that with him? So we can say that the Prophet is more special and superior than any other man or even prophet or messenger.

Abdullah ibn Rabah, in a Hadith about conquest of Maccah, said: The Messenger went to al-Safa mountain where He could see The Holy House. Then He kept asking and praising Allah, while Al-Ansar [the supporters, people of Medina] were  near to Him. Al-Ansar said to themselves: "the man is yearning for his village and desiring his people". Then, the revelation came, and we used to be able to recognize the revelation when it comes to Him. After the revelation was over, He [PPBUH] said: (Oh you Al-Ansar, you said: the man is yearning for his village and desiring his people. You say the man, then what is my name? - repeated it thrice - No, I am the devout servant of Allah, I am his Messenger. My life is with you and my death is with you). They came to Him crying and saying: We only wanted to hang on to Allah and His Messenger. The Messenger said: (Allah and his messenger believe you and accept your excuses). Speculate carefully when he said that the revelation came down to Him while He was speaking with others, and how He could bear it and need not to lay down from where He was standing to receive it. Abo-Huraira said: "When revelation used to come to the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH], no one could lift his eyes to Him till it is over". narrated by Muslem in his long Hadith about the conquest of Maccah. And look at how the great companions could not bear just looking at the Prophet during revelation.

Ibn Eshak, narrating from some of the scholars, said: "When Allah Almighty wanted to honor His Messenger and start His Message, He made him hear the greetings of the trees and stones. So He [PPBUH] would not pass by a tree nor a stone unless He hears it greeting Him, then He would look around and see nothing but the stones and trees. They used to greet him with the greeting of the prophets: Peace be upon you, O Messsenger of Allah"... Now look at how all the creatures realized His prophethood except mankind!!

Gaber ibn Samra told us that the Prophet said: (I know of a stone at Maccah which used to greet me before the Message, I still know it) that was narrated by Muslem. Ali [AAH] said: "I used to walk with the Prophet in the valley, and He would not pass by a stone or a tree unless it says: peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah" Ali said: "I used to hear it".  Now speculate this: even the companions of the Messenger heard that too.

Aisha, the mother of believers, told us that al-Hareth ibn Hesham asked the Prophet: "O Messenger of Allah, how dos revelation come to you?" The Messenger replied: (it sometimes comes as the sound of  high ringing of a bell, which is the hardest for me. When it is over, I would be aware of what he said. And sometimes the angle comes to me in the form of a man. When he speaks to me, I understand what he says). Aisha also added: I saw Him when the revelation used to come to Him in a very cold day, and leaves Him with His face dripping with sweat. narrated by al-Bbokhari.

Aisha said: "Sometimes the revelation would come to the Messenger while He is on his camel. The camel would fall down to her neck from the heavy burden of the revelation. The Messenger's face would drip with sweat in a winter day, when He receives the revelation". narrated by Mo'amer ibn Hesham. Now speculate how the camel could not even bear the Prophet while receiving the revelation, yet He bore it with His face dripping sweat in spite of the cold day.

Ubada ibn al-Samet said: "When revelation used to come to the Prophet, He would be in anguish and His face would show trouble, its color would change to dark rednarrated by Muslim. Abo-Huraira said: "When revelation used to come to the Prophet, no one could look up to Him till it is over". narrated by Muslem in a long Hadith about the conquest of Maccah. The great Messenger's companions could not bear just looking at the Prophet during revelation.

Abdel-Rahman heard Omar ibn al-Khattab saying: "When the revelation used to come to the Messenger, we would hear sounds like the humming of the bees"... the Hadith. And in Abo-Bakr's Hadith: "He heard at the Prophet's face, sounds like the bees' humming".

Gandab ibn Sufian said that the Messenger complained for two or three nights. Then a woman came to Him and said: "I hope that your devil had left you" So Allah reveals down the verse: [By the forenoon and by the night when it is stillest dark ¤ Your Lord would never have forsaken nor deserted you] al-Dhuha 93:1-3. narrated by al-Bokhari. Kattada said about the verse   [And verily your Lord will give unto you so that you will be content] al-Dhuha 93:5, that this will be in the hereafter. Ibn Abbas said, about the same verse, that part of the pleasing of Mohammad [PPBUH], is that none of his family would go to hell. Ibn Kathir said, about the same verse, that it would be in the hereafter, Allah would give him what pleases him for his nation and what He prepared for him of generous bounty including the river of al-Kawthar. This al-Kawthar river has banks made of hollow pearl domes, and mud is made of mesk. Alqama narrated from Abdallah that the Prophet [PPBUH] said: (We are of a home that Allah chooses for us the hereafter over the worldly life. and he recited the verse [And verily your Lord will give unto you so that you will be content].

Hassan ibn Thabit, the Prophet’s poet, said:

[We hear in the forenoon that You will be pleased

We were very happy to hear about this bounty]

[We know that You will never be pleased

if You know that one of us is  tortured or harmed]
